Incumbent will be working on building rooftop and ground mounted Photovoltaic Solar plants. He or she will provide online support to the business development and the project management teams for various assignments.
Incumbent will be responsible for defining the structural design basis of solar plants. He or she will utilize a wide array of software and methods to design the most efficient solutions weighing constructability, quality, cost and performance. Some of the key deliverables (but not limited to) will be in the form of technical specifications for material, design guidelines, design drawings and calculation review and equipment technical due diligence. The steps, methods, calculations and standard designs that are developed throughout his or her day to day work will be documented and shared with other regional structural engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate site specific loading requirements based on existing structure analysis.
- Develop structural design standards and specifications.
- Analyze structural characteristics of racking systems to verify strength and performance.
- Prepare scope of work for geotechnical investigations, if necessary.
- Prepare preliminary PV plant foundation recommendation and anchor bolt design based on geotechnical information and structural loading.
- Preparation of Technical Specification document containing details of design standards, methodology for installation and instructions for structure installer
- Preparing and reviewing Design documents of Structural Steel Column, Main Girder, Purlin, connection of structural column to beam and connection of beam to beam.
- Support the project development team with cost models and high level design.
- Optimize foundation and PV racking design in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
- Design tender documents for the procurement of PV structures, including but not limited to material standards and design standards to be used by the PV structure suppliers
- Lead continuous improvements of design standards, specifications and design process.
- Review projects structural design/drawings and calculations from subcontractors.
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
