Community engagement for capacity building activities through participatory learning approaches for adopting technologies and innovations related to salinity effected landscapes. Social and environmental management, community development, monitoring and evaluation; and resource-sharing specific activities described in the project document. Assist National Community Engagement Leader in the timely implementation of all aspects of the project.
Minimum Requirements and Attributes
1. Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc. Hons.) in Agriculture or equivalent level and background
2. At least 3 years’ work experience/dealing with farmers/rural communities.
3. Understanding of adult participatory learning theories and their applications.
4. Training and experience of adult participatory learning approaches, preferably the Farmer Integrated Learning Model (FILM) or related approaches.
5. Good facilitation and communication skills.
6. Gender equity across the cohort of SOFT facilitators.
7. Fluency in international, national and relevant local languages across the cohort of SOFT facilitators and farming communities.
8. Capacity to understand and facilitate the development of project-related co-inquiry action plans with a range of stakeholders.
9. Prior knowledge and experience of issues faced by communities living in salinity affected landscapes.
10. Capacity to directly contribute to research activities, outputs and outcomes.
11. Remain open to change and ability to manage complexity.
12. Ability to work and act under pressure and with discretion in a multicultural environment.
13. Ability to deal with stakeholders from a broad range of backgrounds.
14. Demonstrate capacity to plan, prioritize and deliver tasks on time to meet goals in a high-pressure environment.
15. Maturity and confidence in dealing with high-ranking official of government, non-government and international institutions.
Established in 2009, SOFT is an Islamabad based national society working for professional facilitators and trainers across Pakistan. It is not for profit society registered under Society Registration Act 1860. The idea of SOFT emerged from the last 10 years efforts being made at the platform of National IPM Programme of Pakistan Agriculture Research Council implemented in different phases all over Pakistan. Its formation is accomplished by a group of professionals desiring an avenue for interchange, professional development, trend analysis and peer networking. A formal association was proposed and adopted at the 2nd National IPM Facilitators congress in Islamabad, November, 2004. The SOFT Network has currently 35 national and international member organizations under SOFT Network, which not only facilitate it in providing resources but also share their expertise in the designated areas.
