The Role: DATABASE DEVELOPER II-I

The Location: Pakistan

The Team:  The Database Development team is responsible for Query Performance at the data layer level. Primarily we focus on Microsoft SQL Server Query and application tuning, but we are branching out into PostgreSQL & Cassandra & other NoSQL technologies.

The Impact:  Our work has a direct impact on the performance of SPGMI’s product websites and applications. Our work makes the user experience faster and smoother to ensure a quality experience to meet our user’s expectations.

What’s in it for you:  The Database Development team has already grown and expanded into working extensively and leveraging Microsoft SQL Server technologies. There is further room for growth in this space as well as lateral opportunities for career development inside the larger SPGMI organization. There is additionally space to learn and work on NoSQL DB technologies too like Cassandra/MSSQL/SOLR and PostgreSQL/Oracle etc.

Responsibilities:  

Responsible for product & content query optimizations, SQL Server T-SQL, including research into new database technologies. Complete Query Optimization tasks focused on MSSQL DB technologies. Also, help consult with the Data Architecture team in re-building and maintaining out the already existing MSSQL infrastructure to allow our metadata repository to support middle tier applications. Willing to learn quickly and independently other NoSQL technologies and RDBMS like MSSQL/Oracle and Cassandra/PostgreSQL etc and demonstrate learnings and knowledge. Solve, non-routine problems and determine the best solution for them Development(code) for creating new database objects in MSSQL and maintaining/supporting including fine tuning them w.r.t code. Same would also be required to work on NoSQL DB Technologies and PostgreSQL Delivering projects on time and with quality support on MSSQL primarily and other basic support on NoSQL technologies including Cassandra/PostgreSQL/ etc. Improve application's performances (middle tier) connecting to MSSQL DB’s. Prepare documentations for database applications. Fix any issues related to database performance and provide corrective measures.

What We’re Looking For:

Advanced/Expert level knowledge (devops) of MSSQL DB’s.

• How it works internally, how to tune queries in it and how to maintain a reliable,    performant environment in the cloud OR on premise for our product and content databases hosted on MSSQL DB.
• Intermediate/Basic level knowledge of PostgreSQL or NoSQL DB technologies

Excellent procedural Scripting knowledge (working) on MSSQL DB i.e TSQL. Fine tuning TSQL queries(MSSQL) knowledge. DEVOPS mindset to deliver projects ontime and quality. Migration/Development/Performance tuning experience on MSSQL

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 3+ Years of experience and working knowledge on MSSQLDB technologies as DBA DEVELOPER or DEVOPS
• 2+ Years of experience in windows and cloud environments.
• 3+ Years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server
• Must be able to read, legibly write and fluently speak English.
• Devops knowledge on MSSQL databases preferably 2017 or latest versions
• Working in agile scrum model
• Database query tuning or optimization experience on MSSQL Database technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Scripting knowledge on Java script or csharp or python or scala etc
• Knowledge or experience on NoSQL Technologies would be preferred
• Powershell scripting knowledge
