The Role: IT Project Portfolio Analyst

The Team: The DTS Portfolio Management team sits within the DTS Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and works to define, implement, maintain, and enable all-encompassing project/portfolio management practices and standards across the Digital Technology Services (DTS) and TSG functions. We facilitate project reviews, prioritization, approvals, and reporting in a standardized manner to provide timely information and transparency to all stakeholders.
This includes program and project governance processes and coordination of efforts between internal project teams and divisional partners. The Portfolio Management team also monitors and reports on DTS Strategic Initiatives to facilitate strategic decision-making and ensure continued alignment with SPGI strategic goals.

The Impact: The IT Portfolio Specialist will work with stakeholders, IT technical resources, and leadership to help standardize the execution of programs and projects through facilitation and partnership to maximize productivity, quality, collaboration, and transparency.

Responsibilities: The overall goal of the position is to support program managers and sponsors during all phases of a program. In the day-to-day, you will assist the DTS Portfolio Manager in governance creation and implementation, ensuring programs meet strategic goals and initiatives, provide accurate reporting and guidance to stakeholders, and assist project managers as required. Some of your areas of ownership will include:

• Helping execute enterprise-wide initiatives as they apply to the organization

• Working alongside others to define, implement, and improve the governance framework for programs and projects

• Preparing reports and communicating across multiple levels of leadership

• Supporting overall organizational efficiency through collaboration

• Assist and facilitate portfolio prioritization and Project Review Board sessions with all stakeholders

• Facilitating key team and stakeholder meetings

• Supporting project managers and other team members

• Ensuring portfolio consistency and data

• Playing a key role in the continual improvement of the PMO

• Creating training and project documentation repositories

• Auditing the portfolio for quality assurance

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

• 4+ years of relevant work experience in Program or Portfolio Management

• Knowledge of project management methodologies

• Excellent written and verbal communication and project management skills

• Drive to innovate, identify solutions and build consensus

• Experience crafting messages through data visualizations

• Problem solving skills and the ability to continue driving questions/issues to resolution

• Desire to make work easier for others through the implementation of operational initiatives

• Ability to be a partner and collaborate seamlessly

• Experience facilitating large meetings and ensuring objectives are achieved

• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and lead others to decisions and completion of action items

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with business, technical staff and management

• Ability to execute with limited information and ambiguity

• Proven willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and an ability to work in a fast-paced, high demand work environment.

• Highly organized, independent, and multitasker

• Good data analysis skills using Excel and any other BI tools

• Open to working flexible hours as per business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Technology, Management or related area

• PMP or SAFe or Agile Certification

• Experience on PPM tools like Solutions Business Manager (Micro Focus Tool) and/or Agile

• Execution tools like Azure DevOps (Microsoft tool)
