The Specialist RAN Operations role is a vital technical position based in Islamabad, dedicated to ensuring the optimal performance and stability of the Radio Access Network (RAN). This role involves providing continuous 24x7 back-office operational support to field teams, addressing issues at both site and controller levels. The specialist is responsible for executing end-to-end configuration changes within the RAN domain to maintain seamless network functionality and high service quality. Reporting directly to the Manager RAN Operations, the position requires a proactive approach to network management, problem-solving, and timely resolution of technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Perform parameter configuration and tuning for BSC, BTS, Cell, and TRX within Huawei networks. Manage BSC and BTS rehoming, SGSN shifting and addition, along with software, patch, and license upgrades. Handle new site creation, both hard and soft expansions, and dual carrier configurations. Conduct junk database deletion within the EMS system to maintain system integrity. Execute network blocking as mandated by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Standardize alarms across the network to enhance monitoring efficiency. Configure and manage special event performance, particularly during high-traffic periods such as Eid and congregations. Manage database exports and maintain accurate inventory records. Provide Level-II support to field teams during network outages and performance degradation incidents. Analyze daily BSC and major KPIs, troubleshoot issues, and perform degradation analysis with appropriate rectification. Ensure controllers’ redundancy and conduct alarms and event analysis, implementing corrective actions as needed. Perform network hardware and license audits, including database backups. Carry out physical inspections and preventive maintenance of controllers to ensure operational reliability.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Computer Engineering is essential. Candidates should have 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience with Huawei RAN configuration. Willingness to work on a 24x7 roster duty schedule is required. Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, is necessary. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to daily operational challenges are critical. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are expected. A thorough understanding of GSM architecture and call flows for both 2G and 4G technologies is mandatory.
