The position is responsible for Program Development and grant/proposal writing and program development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify and track relevant upcoming funding opportunities – through intelligent information gathering, partner relationships, and other available resources.
  • Conduct prospecting visits to Organization’s Country Offices to identify and prepare for upcoming funding opportunities.
  •  Manage activities for pre-solicitation of proposal preparations and bid planning including: teaming, bid strategy, development of winnable themes, oversight of and contribution to technical design,  drafting management and other sections of the proposal in advance of the solicitation.
  • Manage major open solicitations and other proposal submissions, including teaming agreements, oversight of technical design and cost proposal, capacity statements, internal review/quality control  processes, drafting sections of the proposal where appropriate.
  • Represent the organization’s business development interests at relevant meetings, events, and within resource mobilization or donor-specific peer networks. Facilitate relationship-cultivation with donor agencies to get their buy in for current and new initiatives.
  •  Prepare and Review guidelines, templates and formats for documentation of proposals and concept notes, case studies, best practices and lessons learnt.
  • Prepare, supervise and ensure quality check of developed Expression of Interest (EOIs), Concept Notes, Proposals, Case Studies, Lessons Learnt and Best Practices from program and project reviews
  • Identify, mobilize and forge strategic partnerships to effectively seek large scale funding for projects.
  • Provide necessary technical assistance to the regional offices and project staff in developing, fine tuning and finalizing EOIs, proposals, concept notes.
  • Supervise and ensure outsourcing of any work to the consultants related to BDD proposals on need basis.
  • Supervise designing and implementation of the research studies on need basis with the business development department
  • Provide necessary guidance for abridging best practices at the field level with donor reports and proposals.
  • Represent the BDD in senior management meetings and forums within and outside the organizations
  • Participate in presentations about the BDD in Board and SMC meetings and to other key stakeholders as required
  • To carry out and steer the implementation of the OXFAM-WVL project in accordance with the approved budget and planned results and activities.
  • Submit a narrative report, following the specific guidelines of the OXFAM-WVL.

Coordination Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate closely with other programme teams at the regional and national levels to build synergies and effective delivery of the BDD annual targets related to EOIs, Concept Notes, proposals, and partnerships.
  •  In consultation with the supervisor, coordinate work with external agencies.

Other:

  • Adhere to SPO policies and promote participatory culture and demonstrate SPO’s values
  • Participate in professional development training as identified and approved by SPO
  • Carry out any other activities as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of writing EOIs, concept notes, proposals and partnership agreements.
  • Must be conversant with both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, communication and data analysis skills in English;
  • Experience in the field of social sector particularly with international donor agencies, INGOs, NGOs and government at provincial and district level.
  • Team player, eager to learn and adaptable personality.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Comprehensive and demonstrated experience in social development.
