DESCRIPTION:

In order to contribute to the effective implementation for improving electoral and political participation of women in the identified districts, the Social Mobilizer will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Project Manager (PM) and will ensure smooth functioning of the district/tehsil level activities, monthly reporting, implementation of project activities and project reviews/meetings. Social Mobilizer can be hired for a period of six months by either internal or external hiring procedures.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Assist PM for smooth execution of district/tehsil level activities, including following areas:

§  Identification of reasons of women’s NIC and voter under-registration in the assigned communities,

§  Finalization of community mobilization plans

§  Listing of unregistered women through door-to-door campaigns

§  Mobilization of women for NIC and voter registration

§  Facilitation of women for NIC and voter registration

§   Coordinate and arrange meetings with ECP, NADRA, DVEC, office bearers of political parties, district and local government officials and influential in the assigned communities to facilitate NIC registration process.

§   Ensure timely implementation of the project (all components) activities in the field.

§  Identify and recruit youth volunteers and provide them one-day orientation.

§  Arrange and correspond for meetings with NADRA for facilitation/ MRV Request.

§  Contribution in timely submission of all relevant MOVs against respective activities (such as block wise lists of non CNIC holder females, event reports, assessments, attendance sheets, photographs, media briefings, scanned copies of tokens etc.) and as defined in the mile-stone schedule, on WNVRC - GMIS.

§  Assist the Volunteer for progress of the relevant activities, as per Statement of Work (SoW).

§  Ensure all targets are timely achieved in the assigned districts.

§  Participate and ensure 100 % attendance in the trainings, sessions/ forums.

§  Conduct Social surveys as and when required or asked by the management.

§  Liaison with partner organizations and institutions working in the project area.

§  Develop and maintain the necessary documentation and record of all project and organization activities.

§  Provide full support to the sectors representatives for conducting feasibility studies, preparation of project proposals, and development of action plans and implementation of program interventions

§  Maintain and update all record at office level.

§  To assist community members to identify needs and to generate solutions identifying priority issues and to analyze their problems and guide for resource mobilization.

§  Working with community groups providing a range of activities

§  Building capacity that allows the community to share knowledge and resources effectively.

§  Setting up new services by liaison with interested groups

§  Attending meetings and presenting verbal and written reports

§  Acting as a facilitator to promote self-help in the community.

§  Carry out any other duties assign by the E.D or Program Manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

§  Bachelor degree in related discipline or graduation with three years of proven relevant experience.

§  At least 3 years of experience in community mobilization and advocacy in the targeted district/tehsil.

§  Knowledge of relevant political rights field(s) (women’s voting rights; and women electoral participation in General Elections) and practical experience (i.e. acquisition of NICs, voter registration of women) would be preferable.

§  Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, and   PowerPoint) is mandatory.

§  Excellent communication and presentation skills required, along with the understanding of local language.

§  Knowledge of English language will be considered an added advantage.

Sustainable Development Society (SDS)

Sustainable Development Society (SDS) is a non for profit non-government organization. SDS has previously worked under the name of Shangla Development Society since 1997. Starting its work in 1997 at District Shangla, a remote, under developed and poverty stricken district in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa province, the organization served the local communities on voluntary basis without getting any funds from any donor or charities till 2001. In 2001, the SDS was contacted by some local funding organization for political participant of women as well as awareness raising regarding adult franchise. Likewise SDS continue small funding project for health and hygiene and natural disasters. After the devastating earth quack in 2005 SDS was contacted and funded by some major international donors including Oxfam International, World Food Program, UNICEF and Greek Red Cross etc. for relief and rehabilitation of the people at district Shangla and district Kohistan. Apart from that SDS continue to get funding in other sectors like alternate energy, livelihood, disaster risk reduction, infrastructure, irrigation, health, education, water and sanitation and expended its outreach to district Swat, Swabi, Mardan, Manshera, Abbottabad and Kohistan. After the rise of militancy and military operation in 2007 SDS entered into a new but dangerous phase of its activities. Most of the non-profit organization ceased their activities but SDS continued to operate and serve the people. Many of its staff members were tortured and threaten to stop their work and activities. Even SDS was forced to relocate its offices but it continued to help the people through funding from different donors. After widening its scope of work and outreach beyond district Shangla, Shangla Development Society was renamed as Sustainable Development Society in 2008. SDS is currently actively involved in the socio-economic uplift of the inhabitants of the whole province. SDS intends to support wellbeing of the people of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa through strengthening sustainable development, peace, democratic process and inter and intra communal harmony. To work for sustainable development and assist the people in promoting peace, social justice and good governance. SDS promotes participatory approach to bridge the gap between people, government and policy makers for sustainable development within and across generations.
