POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible to develop Programs including grant submissions and oversight for improving efficiency and effectiveness of program implementation direct supervision of some of the programs He/she is responsible to develop donor proposals and relationships, establish a monitoring framework for effective program implementation.  Provides technical support to the content of the programs.

Regular Responsibilites: 

1. Programs:

  • Oversee implementation of programs and new initiatives  (proposal developments and submissions)
  • Lead role in grant management (programmatic and financial) of donor funded projects.
  • Responsible for communications with key stakeholders (development partners, government, private sector) to seek funding for new programs
  • Planning of project activities and annual work plans (AWPs) in consultation with related stakeholders to achieve its expected immediate outcome defined in project document and / or research studies.
  • Monitoring the program activities and will timely inform head of programs about how the project is tracking; any issues that might affect the final project/research or its delivery date, any budget implication, etc.
  • Ensuring the controls of resources through effective monitoring and field visits.
  • Provides technical assistance to organizational strategic objectives and programs
  • Extend technical support in the development review and or implementation of quality assured health programs in basic and clinical units.
  • Technical assistance to design and implement training programs for primary health and clinical staff.
  • Technical assistance to health promotion and behavior change communication material for public awareness in collaboration with communication department.

  • Strengthen regional programs through offering supportive supervisory services
  • Develop cost effective and improvement to existing, models of service delivery (if required)
  • Provide support for integration of clinical and community units within AKHS,P and with AKUH.
  • Supervise clinical audits, medical record audits and mortality reviews of AKHS health programs
    • Provide support for knowledge management dissemination to focal points for AKHS programsProvide technical assistance for research development and implementation.
    • Provide leadership for grant submission processes, ensuring that funding agency requirements and deadlines are met. Set priorities and goals for the research program, in conjunction with co-Principal Investigator
    • Support planning, management and handling of communications for the core programs and donor projects     
    • Synthesize and apply relevant literature in the interpretation of research findings, developing written reviews of literature needed to support specific projects
    • Assist global AKHS in development of strategies, proposals, operational plans etc.  with the aim of achieving organizational objectives.
  • POSITION SPECIFICATION
  • Academic/Professional Qualification
  • MBBS with MPH  equivalent or MPH with Health Economist background         
Experience and Training

  • At least 5 years’ experience of project / program management / coordination in Health Sector. Must have a generalist background and experience in MnCH , community health at a junior level. Must have a mindest of integrating programs within the AKHS health system. Willing to train on the job. Ideally has experience in health system strengthening.
