Job Description

Summary:

The Enterprise & StartUp Ecosystem Development Specialist will work in collaboration with project team members. S/he will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of innovative enterprise/startup development programs, day to day program operations, program and organizational strategy for StartUps, Micro-enterprises and SMEs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a focal point for the identified needs of the communities on enterprise development, innovation, and competitiveness. 
  • Design and implement a strategy for scalability and sustainability of Innovation Hubs, established in project areas. 
  • Collaborates closely with the program coordinator/program manager as well as other agencies working in the area and the private sector in the accessible markets.
  • Provide technical leadership and strategy in the implementation of activities designed to enhance access to finance and provide business development advisory support for SMEs
  • Design and implement business development, financial and non-financial services.
  • Lead and integrate innovation in enterprise development initiatives of micro enterprise, SME and Startup programs.
  • Oversight of all activities conducted under the program and perform any other duties as requested.
  • Identify leverage points for new opportunities, promote appropriate collaborations, identify interventions, and scale up best practices.
  • Support project reporting, including the development of work plans, quarterly reports, and success stories.
  • Prepare reports on monthly project results and facilitate knowledge sharing and learning.
  • Lead program coordinators in field data compilation.
  • Prepare scopes of work for short-term technical advisors, grants, and contracts.
  • Manage Stakeholders: Mentors - Investors - Startups and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Develops business proposals and prepares proposals to win new programs. 
  • Overseeing all activities associated with programs in order to ensure goals are achieved. 
  • Coordinate the development, evaluation, and implementation of program goals, objectives, and activities as outlined.
  • Expertise to plan and run multiple programs as well as regularly monitor & evaluate KPIs of assigned programs.
  • Planning and designing the program and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action.
  • Defining the program's governance arrangements.
  • Represent TiE at various events/seminars.
  • Program budgeting specific to the domain of activity and its review for implementation/resource allocation.
  • Reporting and documentation development related to program and as required.
  • Ecosystem Management: Establishing relationships, extend outreach and engage ecosystem players through innovative initiatives.
  • Working with marketing lead to drive partnerships and engage start-ups and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

 

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years’ experience with enterprise and startups or with development projects, with a strong emphasis on access to finance, entrepreneurship and SME support.
  • Experience in designing and implementing innovative entrepreneurship content. 
  • Knowledge of local and international startup ecosystem 
  • Experience in rural development initiatives, or leadership roles on donor-funded development projects (desirable).
  • Strong writing and project management skills.
  • Excellent partnership building, communication, and management skills to work with the local communities, NGOs, and development partners.
  • Should be well versed with the measures in determining work priorities, making decisions on activity implementation matters, identifying and resolving program issues.
  • Experience in a non-governmental organization 
  • Ability to write proposals
