TiE is partnering with Oxfam Novib and IKEA Foundation for Empower Youth for Work project. This is a five year project which focuses on giving young people in rural areas of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Ethiopia opportunities to develop themselves.  This project will involve young people in order to tackle the main problems in their region, draw up recommendations and lobby for policy changes. We will work together with young people to help them develop professional skills and meaningful social networks. This will improve their chances of finding work. Jobs and opportunities for entrepreneurs that are suitable for young people will be created. We will make sure that young people are more involved in making policy decisions. They must be given the opportunity to be innovative and to be heard. Training courses will be given to young people who are working on their family’s farm to teach them how best to deal with the effects climate change –

TiE Islamabad seeks an imaginative and dynamic leader to support its project ‘Empower Youth for Work’ project at district level.

This full-time Administrative and Professional Staff position reports to the Project Manager and engages a diverse group of constituents (including youth, mentors in a variety of fields, donors, advisors, government, private sector and staff).

The main purpose of the role is to coordinate and implement project activities at district level which offers a range of services to help youth develop and manage their skills. The role will provide the coordinating function and senior administrative support for the development and coordination of a range of services provided by the ‘Hub’ which is to be established in the project areas under this project.

 Key Tasks:

·           Work closely in partnership with project partners to coordinate processes and activities.  

·           Provide a coordinating function & to provide information pertaining to the hub.

·         Undertake research & mapping activities of the private and corporate sector in the vicinity. Identify employment and business opportunities available in the area.

·         Ensure confidentiality and security of information at all times

·         Collect and collate data and forward to researchers and other interested parties as appropriate

·         Act as the Single Point of Contact in relation to all activities to be performed in project area.   

·         Provide information, logistical and procedural support to a pool of facilitators including volunteer facilitators

·         Set up a mentorship trajectory for young entrepreneurs. Support in the form of access to services.

·         Provide reports of activities and outcomes

·         Support the development of infrastructure and systems

·         Develop and manage relationships with various project stakeholders in the area

·         Arrange trainings & various events

·         Liaison with government, NGOs, private sector and SME’s.

·         Work closely with field mobilizers to engage community

·         Manage operations of the Hub.

·         Arrange meetings and venues when required

·         Communications / marketing strategy—support in creating and implementing strategic marketing / communications plans to support project activities

·         Business development – Marketing plan and implementation for various services

·         Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required

 

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 At least two years of experience in relevant positions

·         Deep understanding of the locality & local cultures in the area of implementation of the project

·         Knowledge of local languages of the area of implementation of the project

·         Demonstrable experience in a coordinating/administrative role

·         Exceptional organizational, administrative and problem-solving skills

·         An ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

·         Ability to address a reasonable size crowd.

·         Ability to work to tight deadlines

·         Thorough working knowledge of WORD, EXCEL, databases and Internet

·         Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with staff and colleagues across government and other agencies and at all levels

·         Willingness to undertake training and build expertise in relevant areas

·         Be able to deal with all information on a confidential basis.

·         Able to attend meetings away from the office base after office hours / willingness to work on a flexible schedule

·         Get it done attitude with a high degree of motivation and energy. Doers with a record of productivity and impact.

·         A keen ability to attract and inspire others including advisory board members, mentors, entrepreneurs and volunteers.

·         Ability to organize and plan events (trainings, workshops etc) and programs independently

·         Ability to identify target group for an activity and think and implement ways to reaching out to the target group

 

Project Profile:

  • Experience of working in women and youth empowerment projects, implementation of training programs and event management will be preferred.

·         Knowledge of English.
