Candidate will be working as part of a 3rd Line team, supporting live customers using our world class retailing store systems solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing live hardware and software support calls raised by Customers.
  • Examining error logs and inspecting database content to determine the cause of a problem, or an explanation based on an investigation. Offering workaround solutions where appropriate, and implementing them with the Client’s service desk.
  • Establishing the root cause of issues
  • Correcting issues or where appropriate documenting steps to reproduce for 4th line correction e.g. Development, Partners and suppliers
  • Provide feedback for improvements into development process. Liaise with 3rd Party suppliers and Partners
  • Create processes for common fixes to be followed by the Service Desk
  • Provide documentation and training for the Service Desk and customer support teams
  • Examine MQ, Tomcat and WebSphere logs to determine the cause of a problem
  • Liaise with customer IT teams to diagnose complex problems and explain issues
  • Recreate issues on test environments & hardware to diagnose issues

Required Skills and knowledge 

  • SQL experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or DB2 for database queries.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems:  Configuration, Scripting
  • Experienced in supporting commercial applications/systems.
  • Excellent ‘hands-on’ skills with a willingness to learn is essential as the post holder will be supporting a variety of systems of varying complexity
  • Able to work with access to Live systems
  • Understanding of Java development, Network topology, Database configuration & tuning, WebSphere / MW / Tomcat middleware
  • Knowledge of the retail industry.
  • Experience supporting multi-tier system Java solutions.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
