Verizon Communication is a dynamic growing health care company that is seeking to add a Medical Billing Specialist. We are seeking a confident, respectful, positive individual who is a self-starter able to interact well with team members. This individual also has experience in coding, Medical /Mental Health and Chiropractic Billing.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Accurately applies CPT and ICD-10 codes based on supporting documentation from all assigned providers
  • Accurately researches and resolves coding related denials
  • Accurately corrects claim scrubber errors and is able to understand and apply the edits
  • Accurately provide feedback and supporting research on documentation issues to Chief Operating Officer
  • Communicate and assist in resolving issues with providers, and staff, to ensure all charges are coded accurately and completely
  • Understand how coding processes relate to the other billing processes and make recommendations that would improve the overall revenue cycle
  • Assist the billing team with patient calls and A/R follow-up

Knowledge

  • Proficient in Medical / Mental Health and Chiropractic Billing
  • Proficient in knowledge in insurance company network contracts*****
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of ICD-9, CPT & HCPCS coding
  • Efficient use of modifiers
  • Strong understanding of the Correct Coding Initiative
  • Proficient in the understanding of the different types of insurance companies
  • Proficient in the use of the internet, Microsoft windows and all applicable applications
  • Knowledge of Practice Management/Electronic Health Records system
  • Ensure use of Insurance coding edits for optimization of revenue
  • Strong communication skills, on the phone and in writing.
  • Ability to identify trends and patterns in billing issues and resolve accordingly.
