Senior Associate - Accounting and Financial Planning

We are headquartered in New York City with our teams geographically located and our delivery powerhouse in Islamabad, Pakistan.
 
As a Senior Associate, Accounting and Financial Planning, you will take on responsibility for accounting, forecasting, reporting and tax compliance functions for VisionX and its associated companies. You will interact with various internal departments as well as various regulatory authorities like Federal Board of Revenue, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and Pakistan Software Export Board. You will get increased exposure to senior executives within this high growth start-up and is expected to present accurate and timely high-level financial and management results with clarity and precision to senior management. You will report to the Finance Team Lead / Chief Operating Officer.

·         Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes including booking of period-end accruals/adjusting journal entries and creation of financial statements.
·         Perform all bank/credit cards and general ledger account reconciliations.
·         Build and restructure charts of accounts and maintain client general ledgers and its setup within QuickBooks Online accounting system.
·         Create and use class / location tracking in QuickBooks Online to monitor income and expenses of different project/work streams.
·         Create and implement various accounting policies based on IFRS and US GAAP to maintain adequate internal controls and comply with regulatory requirements.
·         Manage AP/AR functions, bill payments, invoicing and cash receipt applications.
·         Responsible for Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Modeling functions.
·         Track budgets and run reports for different business segments and projects.
·         Assist with various ad-hoc accounting, reporting and financial analysis projects.
·         Support Senior Management on strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
·         Educate other business areas to help maintain tax and contractual compliance.  
·         Carry out Treasury activities: cash liquidity analysis, funds remittance and cash management.
·         Keep abreast of the latest developments in technologies to deliver outstanding quality service.
·         Proactively identify business issues, communicate and implement timely solutions.
·         Gain an in-depth understanding of core business activities, objectives and management needs.
 
Qualifications
·         ICAP Member (ACA)/CA Finalist/ACCA Member /ICMA Member with Bachelor’s degree 
·         1 to 3 Years post qualification experience in financial controller-ship/accounting and taxation related function (Articles with big 4 Accounting Firms or experience in IT/SaaS / Technology start-up is an asset)
·         Experience doing a significant portion of the monthly close (experience managing full month end close cycle preferred)
·         Knowledge of IFRS (US GAAP as asset) and financial analysis principles.
·         Clear understanding of Sales Tax and Income Tax regulations in Pakistan and workings of FBR (Asset would include knowledge of IRS Tax regulations in USA)
·         Proficient in Quickbooks Online /similar software, Advance Excel (Vlookup’s, Pivots, nested IF’s)
·         Confidence in learning and embracing new technology including online banking portals, Dropbox and Google Mail /Calendar, Bill.com, Microsoft Office Suite
·         Comfortable in and accustomed to a start-up/growth stage business and office environment, skilled at creating structure in a rapidly growing business.
·         Commitment to consistently follow established policies and procedures while holding team members accountable to do the same.
·         Ability to multi-task, think independently and problem solve in a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
·         Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
·         Maintain the highest level of confidentiality while working with sensitive data.
