Role of position in the organisation:

The BCC Coordinator will be responsible for guiding and supporting smooth delivery of behavior change focused project management, programme development, stakeholder engagement, M&E and reporting within programme of Pakistan.

Reporting line: The position will report directly to Manager Urban Programmes

Key working relationships:

Internal: SMT and all WAP staff.

External: Partners, Donors and other relevant stakeholders

Purpose of Role The Project Coordinator - BCC will mainly be responsible for overall technical support to BCC interventions within WaterAid. The incumbent will ensure high quality BCC planning and delivery against intended objectives and targets embedded within the programmes.

Responsibilities

Key accountabilities fall under the following categories

  • As a focal point for BCC, s/he will oversee all aspects of BCC components and delivery in line with objectives, budgets, timelines and standards of the projects.
  • As a focal point on Trachoma Elimination, s/he will provide leadership to the project, ensure delivery of the project interventions according to the design and maintain as well as donor compliances. Prepare budget variances and donor reports.
  • Undertake relevant background research, wherever required, for evidence-based BCC programming.
  • Assist in the design and development of BCC creative materials; ensure that all activities are consistent with accepted best practices and relevant to the specific needs of the target groups
  • Liaise with stakeholders to identify BCC training needs; oversee the facilitation of training workshops accordingly
  • Ensure that monitoring system tools, checklists, indicators, reporting formats are in place to track immediate results/outputs and impact/outcomes against planned initiatives.
  • Undertake visits to field projects to oversee implementation and provide on-site feedback for required improvements and generate field visit reports with timely and appropriate follow up on action points.
  • Conduct periodic project reviews and prepare project reports for WaterAid management and outside audience as and when required.
  • Work collaboratively with all teams within WaterAid, keeping them informed of all relevant developments on the BCC activities as required
  • Foster strong and collaborative teamwork, with a shared commitment to BCC as a key intervention to support WASH programme

Person Specification

Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Social/Behavioural Sciences or Public Health.

Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience of management of BCC intervention with a national or an international non-governmental organization
  • Significant experience of coordination with partners and government departments workflows
  • Experience   of   managing community-based BCC projects related to WASH.
  • Good understanding of WASH sector, rural and urban sanitation approaches and hygiene promotion.

  • Excellent expertise of behaviour change communication (BCC)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to spend required time in the field
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web searching/browsing)
  • Time management and ability to prioritise multiple, competing tasks
  • Self-motivated person able to work without close supervision
  • Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to train and motivate partners and staff effectively in a fast-paced environment
