PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Advancing Girls Education & Skills (AGES) USAID-funded program will be operating in four provinces (Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) of Pakistan.  The four-year program works to improve access to formal and informal education, engage communities to support expanded educational and employment opportunities, and collaborate with the Pakistani government to strengthen policies which support girls and young women.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Program Coordinator- Technical and working with the technical team, the Program Officer will support the implementation of the AGES activities across the selected districts. The position will support in planning and coordination with relevant government line departments and key stakeholders for effective implementation of project activities. The position will also assist the office of COP in coordination of strategic meetings/consultations, collation and analysis of required information, development of zero drafts for strategic communications and maintaining the repository of key reference documents/contacts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of all aspects of the AGES program under the guidance of the Program Coordinator-Technical;
  • Liaise with the departments/Ministries/Directorates/ district education offices and other educational institutions for project specific activities;
  • Support M&E team for monitoring of program activities and identifying opportunities for improving program implementation;
  • Liaise with government line departments at the district level in carrying out AGES activities and programs;
  • Assist in developing scopes of work, and facilitate logistical support to short term technical assistance;
  • Collect timely and precise information from the field to draft monthly, quarterly, yearly or any other reports and documentation;
  • Work with the Program Coordinator-Technical to update work plans and budgets as and when needed;
  • Support planning and organization of project events, launches, ceremonies etc.
  • Support COP’s office in coordination of strategic meetings/consultations,
  • Collate and analyse required information for the development of zero drafts for strategic communications
  • Maintaining the repository of key reference documents/contacts as required by COP
  • Adhere to organizational policies and values

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:         

·         Minimum Master’s or equivalent  (16 Years of education) degree in Education / Social Sciences from a recognized institution

Work Experiences (Essential):  

·         At minimum five (5) years of similar work experience, preferably with USAID and UK-AID -funded projects;

·         Experience and knowledge of donor requirements and government administration at local level.

Demonstrated Skills:

  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage a demanding work load;
  • Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual
  • Fluency in both written and oral English, Urdu is essential
  • Highly proficient in computers and computer programs;
  • Excellent understanding of communication equipment usage

Travel:

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% in field or as required.
