The applicant selected for this position will be responsible for drafting, evaluating, negotiating, and executing various contracts covering a range of commercial transactions, including joint ventures and construction contracts. The job holder will be advising internal stakeholders on complex commercial transactions, negotiating and liaising with clients and business partners where required.

The employee will be assisting the Head of Legal on strategic development/business projects and acting as a direct resource for internal legal queries by keeping abreast of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the business.

They will be providing support and advice on new potential business opportunities and managing all aspects of legal risk and developing/implementing mechanisms for mitigation.

The incumbent will be monitoring contract close-outs, renewals, or extensions and managing the in-house contracts team of 3-4 lawyers, including capacity and skill-building of the team, and ensuring dissemination of required training and development programs through the HR & OD department and ensuring retention of adequate, efficient and effective human resources. In addition, they will be managing the contracts repository, database, and correspondence related to contracts as well as the deadlines and pushing the team to ensure timeliness.

Moreover, they will be identifying opportunities to improve business processes and devising plans to implement these changes.

Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Law 

Experience: 7 to 10 years of relevant experience (majority of experience with a law firm of repute, with a proven track record)
