Senior Software Development-Team Lead

JOB PURPOSE

Working from our Pakistan office and reporting to the Senior Development Team Lead in Malta, the Software Development team lead will be a key player within the technology department responsible for the successful delivery of the software developed assigned to him/her by the organization.

his job will entail both hands on tasks and the management of the software development team, with the main objectives to lead and develop such team to efficiently deliver high quality software applications. The selected candidate will be also responsible for defining and implementing the strategy of his team by driving initiatives, promote innovation and maintain motivation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Work together with the Product Development Manager and/or the Product Owner to plan, execute and project manage from a software development perspective the assigned projects; ensuring that the team(s) have the appropriate requirements and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver the requested system effectively and efficiently. 

·         Provide realistic estimates for deliverables while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet agreed deadlines

·         Work closely with the Product Owner, Sales, Marketing and other departments to understand and assist in defining the system’s functional and non-functional requirements.

·         Develop of appropriate standards and practices and ensure that they are documented, maintained and applied to all projects and services 

·         Assist and provide technical support to the commercial departments within the organization. 

·         Accountable for the deployments of software upgrades, enhancements and fixes that are coordinated based on release schedules, as to ensure a continues improvement on the current systems.

Administer and control of the software development methodologies, practices and policies,

·         Assist and provide technical support to the commercial departments within the organization.

Administer and control of the software development methodologies, practices and policies,adopted by the software development team as to meet the current and future application development needs of the organization.

·         Evolve the existing software system applications and architecture in various development areas as needed

·         Assist developers in resolving technical issues.

·         Software Development Team performance management.

·         Guide, coach, motivate, mentor and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development

Coordinate and manage third party software houses and developers outsourced with projects or extension as the development team

REQUIREMENTS

·         Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

·         Minimum of three (3) years of management/leadership experience in a software development and/or other technology related organizations

·         Must have at least 4 years’ experience working through the design, development, release cycle, and delivering software products.

·         Experience with Scrum methodology and Agile practices.

·         A record of successful delivery of software applications as an individual, project/team leader and/or development manager

·         Working Experience with messaging buses such as RabbitMQ and Kafka

·         Working Experience working with caching technologies such as MemCache and Redis.

·         Strong understanding of the software development life cycle

·         Strong leadership and project management skills

·         Strong time management, and problem-solving skills

·         At least 3 years’ experience working with Java

·         Experience and knowledge of various programming languages such as PHP, C/C++ will be considered as an asset

·         Relevant experience in Service Oriented Architecture will be considered as an asset

·         Understanding of relational databases and good knowledge of SQL

·         Knowledge of the Linux operating system and systems administration

·         Experience in the Telecommunications Industry will be considered as an asset

High command of verbal and written English.
