For Social Safety Net Program (SSNP) like BISP, effective targeting is very crucial for ensuring objectivity in identification of beneficiaries and transparency of interventions. In the process of targeting beneficiaries, BISP with the support of World Bank conducted a national level Poverty Score Card (PSC) survey in 2010-11 through which complete information on the socioeconomic and welfare status of almost 27 million households was collected across the country.

The data was collected using Paper & Pen based Personal Interviewing (PAPI). As a result of this huge exercise, a National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) was established containing basic information on household size, education, employment, disability, assets etc

The Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) carried out a national competitive bidding process across Pakistan to the procure services of a technically capable organization for data validation and verification of its supported/assisted schools in the districts of Sindh, and has handed the task to VTT Global. To this end, VTT is developing a user-friendly software application, which will function as a send box to track, verify and validate the newly collected dataset from schools. It will also validate and verify existing profiles for students, teachers, schools and stakeholders, for the academic years of 2017-18 and 2018-19, across 25 districts.

ISLAMABAD, May 24, 2018: Unprecedented efforts of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and civil society in registering eligible-age women have successfully led to an unparalleled increase of 4,307,553 women on the electoral rolls in the last seven months.

This increase indicates the success of the ECP’s Women NIC and Voter Registration Campaign as only around 4.9 million women voters were registered between May 2013 and September 2017. Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA), supporting the ECP’s ‘Women NIC/ Voter Registration Campaign’ initiated for reducing gender gap on electoral rolls, implemented interventions in 103 districts across Pakistan, targeting an outreach of 1.8 million women. Supported by the USAID, the first phase of these interventions was implemented by a select number of Free and Fair Election Network’s (FAFEN) member organizations across the country. This phase covered identification and listing of one million unregistered women in 24 districts which successfully concluded on April 30, 2018.

TDEA arranged a ceremony on Thursday, to acknowledge the valuable contribution of citizen volunteers engaged by FAFEN, and thank the ECP, NADRA, USAID, UNDP, political parties, citizens, civil society and media for their collaborative efforts in recognizing and confronting this issue of under-registration of women.

In her keynote speech, Ms. Nighat Siddique, Additional Director General, Gender Affairs, ECP, commended the role of the civil society and NADRA, and termed it as “unique collaboration” which culminated into a success story. She expressed the hope that this momentum will culminate into better women voter turnout in the upcoming General Election.

The underlying aim of the SAT Project is to assess the performance of the students\' learning in aforementioned subjects. Results are aimed to identify gaps in student achievement and to inform reforms targeting improvement in education delivery at district and provincial level. On the basis of these results, various policy and program reforms are recommended to improve the quality of educational delivery, in order to improve the learning outcomes of students, studying in the public sector schools of the province.
