IT CORP Inc is seeking a skilled 3D Industrial Designer / Mechanical CAD Designer to join their team on a part-time, remote basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in consumer product design, mechanical engineering, and creating manufacturing-ready CAD models. Proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and PTC Creo is essential, along with a strong understanding of mechanical components, product functionality, and mold design principles. This role involves developing innovative product designs that are optimized for production and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop consumer products from initial concept through to production-ready CAD models.
- Create precise 3D models, mechanical assemblies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings.
- Develop mechanical components, moving mechanisms, enclosures, and functional product designs.
- Design products suitable for injection molding and other manufacturing techniques.
- Apply knowledge of mold design fundamentals including draft angles, wall thickness, parting lines, undercuts, and shrinkage.
- Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to optimize products for mass production.
- Prepare CAD files for prototyping, CNC machining, 3D printing, and injection molding processes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams and manufacturers to refine designs and resolve technical challenges.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, and PTC Creo.
- Strong foundation in consumer product design and mechanical engineering principles.
- Practical experience with plastic product design, injection molding, and mold-related design considerations.
- Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, and mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to transform concepts into functional, manufacturable products.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
- A portfolio showcasing previous consumer product and mechanical design projects is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with hands-on experience in real-world product development, mechanical mechanisms, and injection-molded consumer products will be given preference.
