Pavago’s client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead month-end close, financial reporting, payroll, compliance, and core accounting operations within a complex, multi-entity environment. This remote, full-time position requires a hands-on professional well-versed in accrual accounting and GAAP principles, who can manage financial workflows with accuracy and minimal supervision. The role operates during U.S. business hours and demands strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain organized, audit-ready records.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Close & Financial Reporting: Execute timely and accurate month-end close processes, prepare financial statements and management reports, maintain clean and audit-ready workpapers, ensure compliance with GAAP, and proactively resolve discrepancies.
- Core Accounting Operations: Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, maintain general ledger accuracy across multiple entities, manage reconciliations, and ensure completeness and organization of accounting records.
- Payroll & Employee Setup: Process payroll using platforms such as Gusto, ADP, or Paylocity; manage employee onboarding within payroll systems; maintain accurate payroll documentation; and support compliance with U.S. payroll regulations.
- Sales Tax & Compliance: Calculate and file U.S. state sales taxes, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure all reporting and compliance deadlines are met.
- Reporting, Analysis & Forecasting: Build and maintain custom financial reports, support budgeting and forecasting efforts, analyze financial performance, and provide actionable insights to support leadership decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Review and document accounting workflows, identify inefficiencies, implement improvements, standardize processes across clients and entities, and contribute to building scalable, reliable accounting operations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience with strong hands-on knowledge of accrual accounting and GAAP financials.
- Proven experience managing multi-entity or multi-location accounting environments.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Desktop, and/or Enterprise editions.
- Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Experience processing payroll using Gusto or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of U.S. sales tax filing requirements.
- Strong general ledger and financial reporting expertise.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work remotely during U.S. business hours.
Preferred Qualifications and Tools
- Experience with NetSuite is advantageous.
- Familiarity with ADP or Paylocity payroll systems.
- Exposure to tools such as Ramp, Bill.com, and time-tracking software like Clockify.
- Background in outsourced accounting or managing multi-client environments.
