World Business Lenders (WBL) specializes in providing flexible, short-term commercial loans secured by real estate to support small and medium-sized businesses across the United States, especially those encountering challenges with traditional financing. We are currently seeking an Accounting Team Lead to join our Finance team on a contract/consultant basis. This role operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, and requires excellent spoken and written English skills. The successful candidate will manage the accrual accounting related to key company operations, including loan income and expenses, ensuring compliance with US GAAP. This position involves leading a team of analysts to deliver accurate financial reporting within tight deadlines and determining appropriate accounting treatments for new transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare FAS 91 working papers for deferred income and expense accounting.
- Reconcile loan collections with bank activity and post corresponding accounting entries.
- Calculate asset resolution gains and losses.
- Account for interest expense and interest income.
- Manage prepaid expenses accounting.
- Handle loan suspense adjustments and loan-related income and expenses.
- Prepare account reconciliations for balance sheet items.
- Lead and supervise a team of two Accounting Analysts, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of their work.
- Contribute to monthly and yearly financial reporting processes.
- Evaluate and determine appropriate accounting treatments for new transactions and events as they arise.
- Post loan activity daily, including collections, debt payments, and interest payments.
- Review analysts’ work on a weekly basis.
- Prepare weekly calculations for asset resolution gains and losses and account for related activities.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation or Post-Graduation degree in Accounting.
- Intermediate Chartered Accountancy (Inter-CA) qualification preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of accounting experience with strong practical knowledge of US GAAP.
- Proven experience in financial reporting and accounting processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise accounting team members.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time.
- Stable internet connection and a professional remote working setup.
