AI Applied Software Engineer

We are seeking an Applied AI Software Engineer (Web) to join our team as we evolve from traditional siloed engineering roles to T-shaped, AI-empowered web development. In this role, you will focus on building user-centric web applications and banking solutions by leveraging AI-driven tools and agentic workflows. Your work will accelerate code delivery, testing, and system integrations, contributing to innovative digital banking experiences.

Key Responsibilities

- AI-Enabled Web Delivery: Utilize AI coding assistants, large language model (LLM) workflows, and automated tools to speed up feature development across user interfaces, backend services, and APIs.
- End-to-End Ownership: Take full responsibility for delivering production-ready features on the Backbase Digital Banking and Wealth platforms, including Angular frontend components and backend microservice integrations.
- Modern Web Engineering: Develop clean, testable, and maintainable code primarily using TypeScript and Angular, incorporating frameworks and tools such as Nx, RxJS, and the Backbase Design System.
- Quality & Performance: Design components with testability in mind, execute unit and integration tests, and ensure compliance with web accessibility (a11y), security, and performance standards.
- Agile Collaboration: Work independently within a cross-functional Scrum team consisting of UX designers, QA engineers, and Product Managers to deliver rapid product increments.

Required Qualifications

- Experience: At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on modern web technologies.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), RxJS, HTML5, and SASS/CSS frameworks. Familiarity with development toolchains such as Nx, npm, or Webpack is advantageous.
- AI Exposure: Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or workflows driven by large language models for testing and refactoring.
- Full-Stack Knowledge: Solid understanding of backend integrations, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment.
