AI Architect / Software Development & DevOps Engineer

Virtelligence, a global healthcare IT consulting and technology services firm, is seeking a hands-on AI Architect with strong expertise in software development, integration, and DevOps to modernize our application development and delivery model. This role focuses on practical execution, combining software architecture, PHP/MySQL development, REST API integration, DevOps automation, and AI-assisted software engineering. The ideal candidate will leverage modern AI tools to accelerate software delivery while ensuring code, integrations, infrastructure, testing, and deployments are secure, scalable, and production-ready. This is not a research or academic AI role but a technical leadership position driving real-world solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Architect and modernize applications built on React, PHP, MySQL, and REST APIs.
- Lead integration design across internal systems, external platforms, third-party APIs, and AI/LLM services.
- Design and support secure, scalable API layers, data exchange workflows, authentication patterns, and integration standards.
- Utilize AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Kimi, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Gemini, GLM, Windsurf, or similar to accelerate development, refactoring, documentation, and testing.
- Review AI-generated code for logic, performance, security, maintainability, and production readiness.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to design and improve CI/CD pipelines, release automation, containerization, monitoring, rollback processes, and deployment standards.
- Support cloud deployment and application modernization with a preference for Microsoft Azure experience.
- Use AI tools to enhance testing, code quality, documentation, deployment scripts, and overall engineering productivity.
- Establish standards for AI-assisted software development, API integration, DevOps workflows, secure coding, and production support.
- Work closely with business, product, development, QA, and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, application architecture, integration engineering, or DevOps-related roles.
- Strong expertise in software architecture, DevOps automation, and AI-assisted software engineering.
- Hands-on experience with PHP development and MySQL relational database design.
- Proven skills in designing, building, and consuming REST APIs.
- Demonstrated experience with system integration, API orchestration, data exchange, and third-party platform connectivity.
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD, Git workflows, environment management, deployment automation, monitoring, and production support.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Gemini, GLM, or similar.
- Experience integrating applications with AI/LLM APIs or automation workflows.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure preferred; Google Cloud experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong knowledge of application security, API security, database performance, and scalable architecture.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, business stakeholders, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter.
- Exposure to Azure AI, Microsoft Copilot ecosystem, Azure DevOps, or cloud-native application services.
- Familiarity with RAG, vector databases, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or agentic AI frameworks.
- Background in modernizing legacy PHP/MySQL applications.
- Experience applying AI for test automation, code review, documentation, DevOps workflows, and accelerating the software development lifecycle.
- Healthcare IT, HIPAA, payer/provider, or regulated industry experience is highly desirable.
- This is a 100% on-site role requiring close collaboration with internal development, DevOps, integration, and leadership teams within a fast-paced environment focused on practical delivery and measurable outcomes.
