AI Architect / Software Development & DevOps Engineer

Virtelligence, a global healthcare IT consulting and technology services firm, is seeking an experienced AI Architect with strong software development and DevOps expertise. This hands-on role focuses on modernizing application development and delivery by combining software architecture, PHP/MySQL development, REST API integration, DevOps automation, and AI-assisted software engineering. The ideal candidate will lead practical, execution-driven initiatives to accelerate software delivery using modern AI tools while ensuring secure, scalable, and production-ready code, integrations, infrastructure, testing, and deployments. This position requires close collaboration with development, DevOps, integration, and leadership teams in a fast-paced, on-site environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Architect and modernize applications using React, PHP, MySQL, and REST APIs.
- Lead integration design across internal systems, external platforms, third-party APIs, and AI/LLM services.
- Design and maintain secure, scalable API layers, data exchange workflows, authentication patterns, and integration standards.
- Utilize AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Kimi, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Gemini, GLM, Windsurf, or similar to accelerate development, refactoring, documentation, and testing.
- Review AI-generated code for logic, performance, security, maintainability, and production readiness.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to design and enhance CI/CD pipelines, release automation, containerization, monitoring, rollback processes, and deployment standards.
- Support cloud deployment and application modernization efforts, preferably with Microsoft Azure experience.
- Leverage AI tools to improve testing, code quality, documentation, deployment scripts, and overall engineering productivity.
- Establish standards for AI-assisted software development, API integration, DevOps workflows, secure coding, and production support.
- Work closely with business, product, development, QA, and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in software engineering, application architecture, integration engineering, or DevOps-related roles.
- Strong expertise in software architecture, DevOps automation, and AI-assisted software engineering.
- Hands-on experience with PHP development and relational database design, particularly MySQL.
- Proven ability to design, build, and consume REST APIs.
- Demonstrated experience with system integration, API orchestration, data exchange, and third-party platform connectivity.
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD, Git workflows, environment management, deployment automation, monitoring, and production support.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Gemini, GLM, or equivalents.
- Experience integrating applications with AI/LLM APIs or automation workflows.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud platform preferred; Google Cloud experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong knowledge of application security, API security, database performance, and scalable architecture principles.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, business stakeholders, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter.
- Exposure to Azure AI, Microsoft Copilot ecosystem, Azure DevOps, or cloud-native application services.
- Familiarity with advanced AI frameworks and tools like RAG, vector databases, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or agentic AI.
- Background in modernizing legacy PHP/MySQL applications.
- Proven use of AI for test automation, code review, documentation, DevOps workflows, and accelerating the software development lifecycle.
- Experience in healthcare IT, HIPAA compliance, payer/provider environments, or other regulated industries is highly desirable.

This is a 100% on-site role requiring close collaboration with internal teams in a dynamic environment focused on practical delivery and measurable outcomes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on architect who deeply understands software development, integration engineering, and DevOps, capable of guiding AI tools, validating their output, and safely moving solutions into production. This role bridges application development, integrations, AI, cloud, and DevOps to help the team deliver better software faster without compromising quality, security, or stability.
