Key Responsibilities
- Build and deploy AI features focused on document understanding, structured data extraction, and review workflows.
- Develop robust pipelines that integrate language models with application logic, validation processes, and human review.
- Design evaluation frameworks using representative examples, labeled datasets, and clear quality metrics.
- Enhance output quality through techniques such as prompting, retrieval, model selection, and structured generation.
- Implement safeguards to handle uncertain, incomplete, or conflicting input data.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and domain experts to translate workflow requirements into effective AI capabilities.
- Partner with engineering teams to integrate AI services into APIs, background jobs, and customer-facing applications.
- Monitor production environments for quality, latency, and cost, using insights to drive continuous improvements.
- Document system behaviors, limitations, and operational considerations to support transparency and maintainability.

Required Qualifications
- 5 to 8 years of engineering experience, including hands-on development and deployment of applied AI or machine learning products.
- Practical experience using language models to support real-world product workflows.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience building production-grade services or data pipelines.
- Ability to evaluate model outputs using measurable criteria rather than anecdotal evidence.
- Familiarity with structured output formats, tool integration, retrieval methods, and validation techniques.
- Sound judgment regarding model uncertainty and determining when human review is necessary.
- Capability to navigate ambiguous problems and communicate technical trade-offs clearly.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including testing, observability, and maintainable system design.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with Document AI, information extraction, OCR, or transforming unstructured business documents into structured data.
- Knowledge of large language model (LLM) evaluation, dataset curation, human-in-the-loop systems, and regression testing.
- Familiarity with FastAPI, PostgreSQL, cloud infrastructure, and background processing technologies.
- Understanding of privacy considerations, data handling best practices, and production monitoring for AI features.
