At Rayn, we are driven by innovation, collaboration, and creating impactful solutions that address societal and public health challenges through technology. Joining our team means contributing to a purpose-driven organization where you will have the autonomy to manage projects end-to-end—from the initial client call and scoping to building, launching, and maintaining solutions. This role requires a hands-on builder who takes full ownership of their work, ensuring reliability and quality throughout short, clearly defined engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop AI-driven proposal engines that identify government and enterprise tenders, assess fit, and generate compliant bids.
- Build AI interviewers capable of conducting hundreds of research interviews simultaneously and synthesizing clear findings.
- Create account research tools that aggregate and enrich data from multiple sources to enable personalized outreach.
- Design voice agents that manage real phone calls end-to-end, integrating with client CRMs and internal systems.
- Develop speech models and voice applications for local languages to enable digital service access via speech for non-readers.
- Build healthcare AI products embedded in clinical and administrative workflows, such as patient intake, prior authorization, and follow-up.
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand their workflows and accurately define what needs to be built.
- Identify bottlenecks in processes and measure them before coding begins.
- Make informed decisions on what to build, buy, or skip, and clearly communicate these choices in concise documentation.
- Deliver production-ready solutions with thorough testing for correctness, security, and cost efficiency.
- Design reusable solutions to accelerate delivery for future clients with similar needs and produce documentation suitable for handover.
- Develop internal sales tooling, including account research, scoring, and outreach automation.
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience delivering reliable software, preferably with exposure to startups or client-facing roles.
- Proven track record of deploying at least one AI agent in production that was actively used for weeks, including experience with testing, monitoring, and cost management.
- Strong judgment to distinguish when simple rule-based workflows suffice versus when advanced AI agents are necessary.
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript, along with experience in APIs, webhooks, and SQL.
- Commitment to safety and data governance, including protection against prompt injection, data leaks, and ensuring proper access control and audit trails for client data.
- Disciplined release practices, including automated testing, gradual rollouts, and rollback strategies.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to engage effectively with customers, engineers, and product teams.
- Demonstrated initiative in starting and completing projects independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building evaluation frameworks and guardrails that detect AI agent failures before impacting clients, with a clear understanding of quality benchmarks.
- Familiarity with managing long-running, multi-step AI agent workflows, including handling drift, loops, and maintaining context.
- Deep knowledge of healthcare AI integration, including working with EHR systems via FHIR, HL7, NCPDP, or X12 standards, and compliance with HIPAA data handling requirements.
- Background as a founder, freelancer, or early-stage startup engineer.
Hiring Process
Candidates will be asked to provide proof of work, such as a link to a deployed project along with a brief explanation of a problem encountered and resolved. This may be accompanied by a reference from a user. Next, candidates complete a paid written exercise analyzing a real workflow to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions. Finally, a 90-minute live session involves discussing the written exercise and troubleshooting a malfunctioning AI agent using provided logs.
This role offers the opportunity to lead innovative AI projects that have tangible societal impact while working in a dynamic, collaborative environment that values ownership and craftsmanship.
