The Product Engineer plays a crucial role in developing practical internal applications that enable KnowledgeCity teams to work more efficiently, make informed decisions, and reduce manual tasks. This position emphasizes AI-first product development rather than traditional software engineering. Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain internal applications, dashboards, utilities, and workflow tools using AI-assisted development techniques.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across departments to understand business processes, pain points, and desired outcomes, translating these into effective application solutions.
- Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on internal products, ensuring a smooth transition from concept to production with minimal complexity.
- Develop reporting and analytics tools that aggregate data, highlight key metrics, and provide teams with clear visibility into performance and operations.
- Create operational tools to support approvals, task execution, data entry, status tracking, workflow management, and other repeatable cross-functional processes.
- Integrate applications with APIs, databases, AI models, and business systems, managing authentication, data flows, webhooks, and system connections as required.
- Design and refine AI-driven features, prompts, workflows, and system logic, validating outputs for accuracy, reliability, and usability.
- Test, troubleshoot, and enhance applications post-launch by resolving bugs, monitoring usage, managing versions, and ensuring a dependable user experience.
- Document applications, workflows, data sources, permissions, and operating procedures, and assist users with adoption and training when necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in building functional applications, internal tools, automations, or digital workflows using AI coding tools, low-code/no-code platforms, traditional development, or a combination thereof.
- Exceptional proficiency with AI-assisted development tools to efficiently plan, build, debug, and improve applications.
- Strong understanding of core development concepts, including front-end and back-end logic, APIs, databases, data models, authentication, webhooks, deployment, and version control.
- Ability to read, modify, test, and troubleshoot AI-generated code, even without a formal software engineering background.
- Excellent product thinking and process-mapping skills, capable of converting ambiguous operational challenges into clear workflows and practical tools.
- Comfortable working with business data and analytics, including data structuring, output validation, and creating meaningful reporting experiences.
- Experience integrating SaaS platforms and internal systems through APIs, automation tools, or direct application connections.
- High attention to quality, security, permissions, and proper handling of company and customer data in internal application development.
- Strong communication, documentation, prioritization, and ownership skills, with the ability to manage multiple internal application requests and drive them to completion.
