AI Product Engineer - Internal Apps

The Product Engineer role focuses on developing practical internal applications that enable KnowledgeCity teams to work more efficiently, make informed decisions, and minimize manual tasks. This position emphasizes AI-first product development rather than traditional software engineering. The ideal candidate is proficient in development concepts and excels at leveraging AI-assisted development tools to transform business needs into functional solutions for reporting, analytics, operations, workflow management, and task execution. The role involves close collaboration with various teams across the company to identify challenges, rapidly prototype solutions, integrate systems and data, and continuously enhance applications based on user feedback.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain internal applications, dashboards, utilities, and workflow tools using AI-assisted development techniques.
- Collaborate directly with stakeholders across departments to gather insights on business processes, pain points, and desired outcomes, translating these into effective application solutions.
- Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on internal products, delivering usable production applications with minimal complexity.
- Develop reporting and analytics tools that consolidate data, highlight key metrics, and provide teams with clear visibility into performance and operations.
- Create operational tools for approvals, task execution, data entry, status tracking, workflow management, and other repeatable cross-functional processes.
- Integrate applications with APIs, databases, AI models, and business systems, managing authentication, data flows, webhooks, and system connections as required.
- Design and refine AI-powered features, prompts, workflows, and system logic, ensuring outputs are reliable, accurate, and user-friendly.
- Test, troubleshoot, and enhance applications post-launch by resolving bugs, monitoring usage, managing versions, and maintaining a consistent user experience.
- Document applications, workflows, data sources, permissions, and operating procedures, while supporting user adoption and training when necessary.

Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience building functional applications, internal tools, automations, or digital workflows using AI coding tools, low-code/no-code platforms, traditional development, or a combination thereof.
- Exceptional skill in utilizing AI-assisted development tools to efficiently plan, build, debug, and improve applications.
- Strong understanding of core application development concepts, including front-end and back-end logic, APIs, databases, data models, authentication, webhooks, deployment, and version control.
- Ability to read, modify, test, and troubleshoot AI-generated code without necessarily having a traditional software engineering background.
- Excellent product thinking and process-mapping abilities, capable of converting ambiguous operational challenges into clear workflows and practical tools.
- Comfortable working with business data and analytics, including structuring data, validating outputs, and creating effective reporting experiences.
- Experience integrating SaaS platforms and internal systems via APIs, automation tools, or direct application connections.
- Strong attention to quality, security, permissions, and proper handling of company and customer data when developing internal applications.
- Effective communication, documentation, prioritization, and ownership skills, with the ability to manage multiple internal application requests and drive them to completion.
