The API Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, reliability, and compliance of fixed equipment such as pressure vessels, piping systems, and aboveground storage tanks. This position requires adherence to API, ASME, and other international standards, providing technical assurance through inspection, repair, and risk-based integrity programs. The inspector’s work helps safeguard asset performance, minimize unplanned downtime, and promote safety by conducting detailed inspections, applying risk-based inspection (RBI) methodologies, and delivering expert recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough inspections of pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks in accordance with API 510, 570, and 653 standards.
- Monitor and supervise repairs, alterations, and rerating activities to ensure full compliance with applicable codes and client specifications.
- Perform or oversee thickness measurements, corrosion assessments, fitness-for-service evaluations, and remaining life calculations.
- Identify non-conformities, prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
- Ensure all inspection activities comply with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance asset reliability and optimize performance.
- Complete inspection schedules and reports promptly, meeting project timelines and client expectations.
- Plan and implement effective inspection strategies that reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with API, ASME, ISO, ASTM, and other relevant standards throughout all inspection deliverables.
- Provide accurate, comprehensive inspection reports and ensure timely closure of identified issues.
- Utilize expertise in inspection techniques and regulatory requirements to maintain high standards of professionalism and client satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related engineering discipline is preferred; a diploma in a relevant field may also be considered.
- Valid API certification in at least one of the following: API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector), API 570 (Piping Inspector), or API 653 (Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector).
- A minimum of 5 to 12 years of hands-on inspection experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or power industries.
- Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII, IX, B31.3, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Familiarity with corrosion mechanisms and degradation modes affecting fixed equipment.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and international codes.
- Skilled in preparing detailed inspection reports, NCRs, and recommendations related to repair, rework, or acceptance.
- Competence in using non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and interpreting inspection results.
- Solid understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements related to inspection activities.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English, including strong report writing and analytical abilities.
- Computer literacy, including experience with inspection management systems and RBI software.
