The API Plant Inspector will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of pressure vessels, process piping, and aboveground storage tanks within the oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, or industrial sectors. Reporting to the Lead Oil & Gas / Operations Manager, the role requires close collaboration with inspection, operations, and engineering teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements. The inspector will perform in-service, periodic, shutdown, and turnaround inspections, evaluate inspection data, and prepare detailed technical reports to support maintenance and safety decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform inspections of pressure vessels, process piping, and aboveground storage tanks in accordance with API standards, approved procedures, and client specifications.
- Conduct visual inspections, thickness measurements, and review NDT results to identify corrosion, erosion, cracking, leakage, deformation, and other damage mechanisms.
- Review technical documentation including drawings, equipment data, inspection history, and previous reports prior to inspections.
- Prepare accurate inspection reports with recommendations for repair, replacement, further inspection, or engineering assessment.
- Apply API 510, API 570, and API 653 codes and standards to evaluate inspection findings and assess remaining serviceability.
- Coordinate with qualified NDT personnel, review NDT documentation, and maintain technical integrity and confidentiality of inspection records.
- Escalate critical findings requiring engineering or fitness-for-service evaluations.
- Manage inspection assignments to meet agreed scope, schedule, quality, and commercial requirements.
- Communicate inspection results, additional requirements, and potential scope changes through appropriate management and client channels.
- Plan daily activities effectively, maintain valid certifications, and stay current with relevant codes, standards, and technical developments.
- Ensure professional independence, confidentiality, and ethical conduct while supporting client retention and business development.
- Understand client inspection scope and requirements, coordinate with client representatives to minimize operational disruption, and respond professionally to technical queries.
- Comply with all applicable legal, company HSE policies, and procedures, maintain safe work environments, report hazards and incidents promptly, and actively participate in health and safety initiatives.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Certified API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector, API 570 Piping Inspector, and API 653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector.
- Relevant training in NDT, welding inspection, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices.
- Strong technical knowledge of API 510, API 570, and API 653 requirements, including pressure vessels, process piping, aboveground storage tanks, corrosion and damage mechanisms, inspection planning, visual inspection techniques, thickness measurement, NDT methods, welding and fabrication practices, and applicable ASME/API codes and client standards.
- Proven experience inspecting pressure vessels, process piping, and/or aboveground storage tanks in oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, or industrial plants.
- Experience with in-service and shutdown/turnaround inspections, NDT coordination and review, thickness monitoring, and preparation of technical inspection reports.

Performance Monitoring

- Maintain and enhance API inspection competency through ongoing training, certification renewal, technical learning, and participation in development activities.
- Meet key performance indicators including timely completion of inspection assignments, accuracy and completeness of reports, compliance with standards and procedures, responsiveness to client queries, validity of certifications, and prompt escalation of critical findings.
- Performance is monitored by the Lead Oil & Gas / Operations Manager or Department Head.
