We are seeking an experienced Commerce and Enterprise Service Layer (ESL) Architect to lead the design and governance of scalable digital commerce and enterprise integration solutions. This role will be responsible for owning the architecture across commerce platforms, APIs, microservices, ESL, and enterprise backend systems, ensuring that all solutions meet stringent requirements for security, scalability, resilience, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the end-to-end solution architecture for Commerce and ESL platforms.
- Design integrations between Commerce platforms and systems such as ERP, CRM, OMS, PIM, CMS, payments, inventory, and fulfillment.
- Establish API, microservices, event-driven, and messaging integration patterns.
- Develop and enforce architecture standards covering API security, authentication, error handling, logging, monitoring, and performance.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to Commerce, ESL, backend, frontend, and integration development teams.
- Ensure that all solutions comply with scalability, availability, security, resilience, and performance requirements.
- Review solution designs to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and architectural constraints early in the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product teams, engineering, security, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture groups.
- Maintain comprehensive solution architecture diagrams, integration specifications, API standards, and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Architect specializing in digital Commerce and enterprise integration solutions.
- Strong expertise in eCommerce and Digital Commerce architecture.
- Deep knowledge of Enterprise Service Layer (ESL) architecture.
- Hands-on experience designing REST APIs, microservices, and managing API lifecycles.
- Solid understanding of synchronous, asynchronous, messaging, and event-driven integration patterns.
- Experience integrating Commerce platforms with enterprise backend systems.
- Expertise in API security protocols including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
- Strong grasp of scalability, high availability, resilience, caching strategies, and performance optimization.
- Experience defining and governing architecture and integration standards.
- Excellent technical leadership, stakeholder management, and solution design capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with platforms such as Adobe Commerce/Magento, SAP Commerce Cloud, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or commercetools.
- Familiarity with API management and integration platforms like Apigee, Azure API Management, Kong, or MuleSoft.
- Knowledge of Kafka or other event-streaming and messaging technologies.
- Development experience with Java/Spring Boot, .NET, or Node.js.
- Exposure to cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of Headless Commerce, Composable Commerce, and MACH architecture principles.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Awareness of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps best practices.
- Experience with observability tools and application monitoring solutions.
