We are seeking an experienced Commerce and Enterprise Service Layer (ESL) Architect to lead the design and governance of scalable digital commerce and enterprise integration solutions. This role will be responsible for owning the architecture across commerce platforms, APIs, microservices, ESL, and enterprise backend systems, ensuring that all solutions meet stringent requirements for security, scalability, resilience, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Define the end-to-end solution architecture for Commerce and ESL platforms.
- Design integrations between Commerce platforms and systems such as ERP, CRM, OMS, PIM, CMS, payments, inventory, and fulfillment.
- Establish API, microservices, event-driven, and messaging integration patterns.
- Set architecture standards covering API security, authentication, error handling, logging, monitoring, and performance.
- Provide technical direction to development teams across Commerce, ESL, backend, frontend, and integration domains.
- Ensure solutions meet scalability, availability, security, resilience, and performance requirements.
- Review solution designs for alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and architectural constraints.
- Collaborate closely with business, product, engineering, security, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture teams.
- Maintain solution architecture diagrams, integration specifications, API standards, and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Architect specializing in digital Commerce and enterprise integration solutions.
- Strong expertise in eCommerce and Digital Commerce architecture.
- In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Service Layer (ESL) architecture.
- Hands-on experience designing REST APIs, microservices, and API management frameworks.
- Solid understanding of synchronous, asynchronous, messaging, and event-driven integration patterns.
- Experience integrating Commerce platforms with enterprise and backend systems.
- Expertise in API security protocols including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, authentication, and authorization.
- Strong grasp of scalability, high availability, resilience, caching, and performance optimization.
- Experience defining and enforcing architecture and integration standards.
- Excellent technical leadership, stakeholder management, and solution design capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills

- Familiarity with Commerce platforms such as Adobe Commerce/Magento, SAP Commerce Cloud, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or commercetools.
- Experience with API management and integration platforms like Apigee, Azure API Management, Kong, or MuleSoft.
- Knowledge of event-streaming and messaging technologies such as Kafka.
- Development experience with Java/Spring Boot, .NET, or Node.js.
- Exposure to cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of Headless Commerce, Composable Commerce, and MACH architecture principles.
- Experience working with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Knowledge of observability and application monitoring solutions.
