The Assistant Accountant will be a vital part of the finance team, responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping, voucher preparation, ledger maintenance, vendor and subcontractor account reconciliation, and regular bank reconciliations. Reporting to senior finance executives, the role demands accuracy in double-entry accounting, thorough verification of site expenses, and the ability to maintain audit-ready financial records on time.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Voucher Management: Prepare, verify, and record all accounting vouchers including Payment Vouchers (CPV/BPV), Receipt Vouchers (CRV/BRV), and Journal Vouchers (JV) with complete supporting documents such as bills, delivery challans, and site engineer approvals. Maintain strict numerical control and systematic archiving of all vouchers and tax invoices. Ensure all entries comply with double-entry bookkeeping standards and company policies.

General & Subsidiary Ledger Maintenance: Keep general ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable up to date and accurate. Regularly review ledger balances to detect and resolve discrepancies or unallocated transactions. Ensure expenses are correctly tagged to designated residential projects and cost centers.

Vendor & Subcontractor Account Management: Manage accounts for construction material vendors, finishing suppliers, contractors, and labor teams. Process vendor invoices against Purchase Orders and Goods Received Notes or verification sheets. Conduct regular reconciliations with vendors and subcontractors to confirm outstanding balances, retention monies, and payment schedules.

Bank & Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations across corporate and project bank accounts against cash books. Monitor petty cash funds, advance accounts, and site imprest registers, ensuring timely reconciliations and replenishment. Assist with periodic account closings, year-end audits, and preparation of ledger aging schedules.

Financial Reporting Support: Generate ledger summaries, trial balances, and expense reports for senior finance managers. Support management in cash flow tracking, invoice generation, and cost monitoring for ongoing villa projects.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce (B.Com, BBA, BS Accounting & Finance), or partially qualified CA/ACCA/CMA.

Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping, voucher preparation, ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations. Experience in real estate, construction, or civil contracting sectors is highly desirable.

Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel, including VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, and reconciliation formatting. Practical experience with accounting ERP systems such as QuickBooks, Peachtree, or other specialized software.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, withholding tax deductions, and standard reconciliation procedures.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Key Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail with zero tolerance for unverified figures or missing documentation. Strong numerical and analytical skills for accurate cross-verification of invoices, bank transactions, and supplier ledgers. High integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive corporate records, payroll, and banking information. Proactive communication skills to coordinate with project engineers, procurement teams, and vendors to resolve discrepancies efficiently.

What We Offer: A competitive compensation package aligned with experience and skills. A professional and structured work environment within a growing, high-end real estate company. Opportunities for direct mentorship from experienced finance executives, fostering significant career growth in corporate and project finance.

Interested candidates who meet the outlined criteria are encouraged to apply with an updated CV and a brief cover letter highlighting their experience in ledger reconciliation and voucher management.
