Assistant Manager - Citrix Support (Mashreq Global Network Pakistan)

The Senior Citrix Engineer plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and supporting Citrix environments both on-premises and in Desktop as a Service (DaaS) cloud models. This position ensures the delivery of efficient, secure, and highly available Citrix infrastructure solutions that provide a seamless end-user experience. The engineer is responsible for managing the technical landscape, addressing performance issues, optimizing system resources proactively, and aligning infrastructure with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Architecture: Develop and implement comprehensive Citrix infrastructure strategies for both on-premises and cloud environments. Design scalable, secure, and highly available Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions that meet organizational needs.

Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor Citrix performance to reduce latency, resolve IOPS challenges, and optimize resource allocation. Implement traffic routing and load balancing strategies to enhance user experience.

Cloud & On-Premises Integration: Lead the migration of users from on-premises environments to DaaS platforms, ensuring minimal disruption and efficient resource use. Manage hybrid VDI environments to guarantee smooth interoperability between cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced tier 2 and tier 3 support for complex Citrix issues. Conduct root cause analysis on recurring problems, implement permanent fixes, and maintain thorough documentation.

Security & Compliance: Ensure Citrix environments comply with regulatory standards by applying patches, security updates, and enforcing strict access controls. Manage Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to safeguard sensitive information.

Project Management: Lead Citrix infrastructure projects such as cloud migrations, technology refreshes, and upgrades. Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery and resolve any obstacles.

Required Qualifications

Citrix Technology Expertise: Extensive experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix NetScaler, and Workspace Environment Management (WEM). Strong knowledge of both on-premises and cloud-based Citrix solutions, including hybrid configurations. Proficient in traffic management, load balancing, resource optimization, and session management.

Cloud Infrastructure: Solid understanding of public and private cloud platforms, particularly Azure, and their integration with Citrix DaaS. Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and VMware and their role in Citrix environments.

Security & Compliance: Knowledge of cybersecurity principles relevant to virtual desktop infrastructure, including encryption, access control, and security policies. Awareness of regulatory compliance standards such as GDPR, ISO 27001, and PCI-DSS as they apply to Citrix.

Networking: Experience with network protocols, VPN configurations, firewalls, and WAN optimization related to Citrix and VDI deployments. Skilled in routing, traffic distribution, and managing latency in hybrid environments.

Technical Skills: Advanced troubleshooting capabilities, including performance monitoring and resource management within Citrix environments. Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell) and expertise in managing Citrix policies, profiles, machine catalogs, and delivery groups.

Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from planning through execution and evaluation, ensuring successful and timely completion.

Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as network, security, and application groups to align Citrix operations with business goals.

Analytical & Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills to assess system performance, diagnose complex issues, and implement sustainable solutions. Proactive in identifying risks and performance bottlenecks and applying preventive measures.

Experience: Over 8 years managing Citrix environments, including design, deployment, and troubleshooting of large-scale VDI setups supporting hundreds to thousands of users across multiple locations. Proven success in managing Citrix Cloud migrations and hybrid deployments.

Infrastructure & Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with enterprise-scale infrastructure, including storage, networking, and virtualization technologies. Skilled in integrating public/private cloud platforms like Azure with Citrix DaaS solutions.

Project Leadership: Track record of leading infrastructure projects focused on Citrix technology refreshes, cloud migrations, and performance optimization initiatives.
