The Assistant Manager Finance will play a crucial role in maintaining and updating the company’s books of accounts in strict compliance with company policies, the Companies Ordinance, and International Accounting Standards. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance/Commercial and the Company Secretary, this position ensures accurate financial reporting, effective cash and working capital management, and adherence to taxation and corporate regulatory requirements. The role also involves supporting financial planning and analysis to drive informed business decisions and contribute to the company’s overall financial health.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management reporting packs, financial statements, and working papers required for audits of both company and provident fund accounts. Ensure timely preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements for all accounts.
Cash Management: Oversee the company’s cash investments and maintain communication with company and provident fund banks as necessary. Manage contract entries in the database and notify relevant personnel of contract expiries. Prepare, forecast, and monitor the company’s rolling cash position while recommending strategies and policies to optimize cash flow, expenditure, credit, and supplier management.
Working Capital Management: Supervise accounts receivable and accounts payable functions with support from finance assistants and officers. Liaise with banks, investees, and financiers to align financial activities with company objectives.
Taxation and Corporate Affairs: Ensure timely filing of corporate returns and forms with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in accordance with the Companies Act 2017. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual tax statements and returns with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Oversee the depositing of withholding tax with tax authorities, ensuring full compliance with relevant taxation laws.
Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and maintain robust financial models to support pricing decisions, new product launches, investment cases, and other business initiatives. Conduct variance analysis and deep-dive financial reviews to provide actionable insights. Lead the annual budgeting process, covering revenue, costs, cash flow, and capital expenditures. Recommend corrective actions aimed at improving profitability, operational efficiency, and working capital management.
General: Maintain the finance department’s filing system and perform any additional tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CA are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in financial accounting, reporting, and cash management.
- Strong knowledge of Companies Ordinance, International Accounting Standards, and relevant taxation laws.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
