Assistant Manager

Saleem Memorial Hospital is looking for a qualified and motivated pharmacy professional to join as Assistant Manager – Pharmacy. The role focuses on Quality Assurance, Medication Safety, Regulatory Compliance, and continuous quality improvement within the pharmacy department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of pharmacy services in accordance with Joint Commission International (JCI) Medication Management and Use (MMU) standards, Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) requirements, DRAP regulations, and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities

- Quality Assurance & JCI Compliance: Support the implementation and ongoing monitoring of JCI MMU standards. Develop, review, and implement pharmacy policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality improvement initiatives. Conduct departmental gap assessments, compliance audits, and prepare for mock surveys. Maintain comprehensive quality documentation, compliance evidence, and ensure readiness for accreditation processes.

- Medication Safety & Risk Management: Oversee medication management processes including prescribing, dispensing, administration, storage, and monitoring. Ensure strict compliance with safety requirements related to high-alert medications, Look-Alike Sound-Alike (LASA) drugs, medication labeling, and storage protocols. Participate actively in medication error reporting, near-miss investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Promote a culture of medication safety and continuous improvement within the pharmacy.

- Clinical & Operational Quality: Monitor medication reconciliation processes, review prescription appropriateness, and support antimicrobial stewardship compliance. Conduct regular audits of medication storage areas, emergency medications, crash carts, and controlled substances. Evaluate pharmacy quality indicators, turnaround times, and overall departmental performance. Identify and recommend opportunities for process standardization and operational improvement.

- Training & Continuous Improvement: Coordinate staff training programs, competency assessments, and medication safety awareness initiatives. Support multidisciplinary quality improvement projects and hospital accreditation activities. Prepare detailed quality reports, audit findings, dashboards, and action plans for improvement. Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Nursing, Medical, and other hospital departments to foster a multidisciplinary approach to quality care.

Required Qualifications

- Pharm-D degree from an HEC-recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the Pharmacy Council.
- Preferably 3 to 5 years of relevant hospital pharmacy experience.
- Knowledge of JCI MMU standards, PHC requirements, and applicable DRAP regulations.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, hospital information systems, and quality reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
