Assistant Manager Product Development - Food Services

National Foods Limited is seeking a dynamic professional to enhance and expand its institutional and food-service product portfolio. This role focuses on aligning product development with evolving customer preferences, regulatory standards, and market trends. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Sales teams and Culinary Experience Managers at both national and regional levels to ensure seamless execution of food-service product innovations from concept through to launch. This position is based at the Corporate Head Office in Karachi and plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s commitment to growth, sustainability, and global recognition.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales and Culinary Experience Managers, to generate and develop innovative food product ideas tailored for institutional and food-service customers.
- Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences alongside Sales and Culinary teams to identify opportunities for product innovation and enhancement.
- Develop and refine recipes and formulations, focusing on taste, texture, appearance, nutritional value, shelf life, and cost-effectiveness suitable for institutional and HORECA applications.
- Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety regulations, including labeling, nutrition facts, and allergen declarations.
- Optimize ingredient costs without compromising product quality by evaluating alternative ingredients and production methods.
- Partner with the Quality Control team to establish and maintain quality control procedures that guarantee product consistency and safety.
- Organize and conduct sensory panels and trials with Culinary Experience Managers and key institutional customers to evaluate product attributes and incorporate feedback.
- Manage the entire product development lifecycle from concept to launch, including timeline setting, resource allocation, testing, and progress tracking to meet Sales and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing to scale up production from lab-scale to commercial volumes, ensuring packaging formats meet institutional needs.
- Work with Procurement to identify and assess suppliers for ingredient quality and safety compliance.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams to explore sustainable sourcing and production methods aimed at reducing environmental impact.
- Maintain detailed records of formulations, ingredient specifications, quality control processes, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Continuously improve existing food-service products and processes by integrating feedback and striving for enhanced quality, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
- Support Culinary Experience Managers and Sales in translating new product concepts into practical menu applications and trial materials for customer demonstrations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, with a focus on institutional food-service and HORECA sectors through ongoing education and training.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in food product development, preferably within institutional or food-service sectors.

Preferred Qualifications

- Postgraduate degree in a relevant field with 2 to 3 years of experience.
