We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Manager – Taxation to join our Finance & Accounts team based in Karachi. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in managing taxation matters, ensuring statutory compliance, preparing tax returns, and coordinating with tax authorities. This full-time role requires a professional who can handle complex tax reconciliations, respond to tax audits and notices, and stay updated on evolving tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and ensure timely filing of Income Tax, Sales Tax, and Withholding Tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations including FBR, SRB, PRA, and others.
- Prepare and reconcile tax workings with accounting records and the general ledger.
- Review withholding tax deductions to ensure adherence to applicable rates and regulations.
- Prepare withholding tax certificates and related statements accurately.
- Assist in the preparation of annual income tax computations and returns.
- Handle tax notices, assessments, audits, and maintain correspondence with tax authorities.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants on all taxation matters.
- Monitor changes in tax laws, SROs, Finance Acts, and other regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
- Provide taxation-related guidance to internal departments regarding business transactions.
- Maintain proper tax records, supporting documents, and reconciliation schedules.
- Prepare periodic tax reports and provide updates to management.
- Assist in tax planning and other taxation-related assignments as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in taxation.
- Strong practical knowledge of Income Tax, Sales Tax, and Withholding Tax.
- Hands-on experience with FBR IRIS system; familiarity with SRB and PRA portals is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including reconciliations and financial data analysis.
- Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet statutory deadlines efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Professional certifications such as CA Inter, ACCA, CMA/ICMA, or an MBA in Finance will be considered an advantage.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software is a plus.
