The role involves managing Trade Payments and various related activities in accordance with the bank’s internal policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) guidelines. The incumbent will be responsible for authorizing transactions within the processing system, covering all aspects of Trade Finance across multiple business segments. This position requires a thorough understanding of trade operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all processing activities comply with SOPs, Operations Procedure Manuals (OPMs), and applicable international trade rules such as UCP, ISBP, and ISP. Charges must be recovered according to current guidelines.
- Conduct sanction checks on relevant parties involved in trade documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage day-to-day trade operations efficiently, including authorizing and inputting transactions into the system.
- Prepare and authorize relevant SWIFT messages accurately and promptly.
- Undertake ad-hoc assignments as directed by the Team Head.
- Identify and communicate any errors or knowledge gaps to the line manager or team to enhance customer service and operational accuracy.
- Prevent revenue leakage by ensuring all charges are correctly collected and accounted for.
- Maintain up-to-date reconciliation of Nostro and internal accounts, ensuring no outstanding entries remain pending.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 9 to 12 years of relevant experience in Trade Operations.
- Expert-level knowledge of Letters of Guarantee and Letters of Credit, including their processing and documentation.
- Strong understanding of accounting entries related to trade finance and experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Familiarity with amortization principles as they apply to trade finance transactions.
- Excellent communication skills, with proven ability in team management and interpersonal relations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and effective interpersonal skills.
