Assistant Producer

Islam Channel Urdu, part of the world’s leading Islamic media platform, has been serving Urdu-speaking Muslim communities in the UK and globally since 2015. We provide dedicated Urdu-language programming across television and digital media. Our team is diverse, hardworking, and passionate about delivering quality content. We are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Producer to join our Islamabad office. This full-time role involves supporting the production of television programmes, interviews, documentaries, special broadcasts, and digital content. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, creative, reliable, and able to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Producers with planning, preparation, and delivery of television and digital content.
- Conduct research on programme topics, guests, stories, and relevant background information.
- Prepare programme briefs, running orders, scripts, questions, and production notes.
- Identify and coordinate suitable guests, experts, and contributors.
- Communicate with guests and contributors regarding programme requirements, timings, and logistics.
- Support pre-production planning including locations, schedules, equipment, and crew coordination.
- Assist Producers during studio and location filming.
- Provide support for live programmes and special broadcasts as needed.
- Coordinate with presenters, researchers, camera crews, editors, graphic designers, and other production staff.
- Ensure all production materials are prepared and available before recording or transmission.
- Monitor programme schedules and help meet deadlines.
- Review recorded material and identify suitable clips for digital platforms.
- Support the creation of social media content derived from television programmes.
- Assist with fact-checking and maintain editorial accuracy.
- Maintain production records, guest information, research materials, and programme documentation.
- Help Producers with post-production requirements and communicate notes to editors.
- Contribute creative ideas for new programmes, segments, interviews, and digital content.
- Stay informed about current affairs, Islamic issues, social topics, and matters relevant to the Urdu-speaking audience.
- Be prepared to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays during special Islamic occasions or major broadcasts.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in television, digital media, journalism, production, or a related field.
- Strong research and writing skills with excellent Urdu communication abilities.
- Good understanding of television and digital media production processes.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple departments and contributors effectively.
- Creative approach to programme development and storytelling.
- Good knowledge of current affairs and issues affecting Muslim communities.
- Understanding of Islamic subjects and terminology.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a production team.
- Flexible approach to working hours, especially during major broadcasts and Islamic occasions.
- Basic knowledge of production software and digital platforms is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Previous experience as an Assistant Producer, Production Assistant, Researcher, or similar role is desirable.
- Experience working for a television channel, production company, digital media organisation, or broadcaster is advantageous.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Media, Journalism, Mass Communication, Film & Television, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Experience specifically in Urdu-language television or digital content is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with strong production skills and relevant practical experience may be considered even without formal media qualifications.
