Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting, Reporting & Analysis, this role is responsible for supporting daily accounting activities, reconciliations, period-end closings, and the preparation of both financial and management reports. The position also plays a key role in the implementation and ongoing operation of SAP, ensuring accurate data management and smooth transactional processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and review accounting transactions, ensuring all entries are supported by appropriate documentation and correctly coded to accounts.
- Maintain detailed schedules for payables, advances, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and other assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare reconciliations for bank accounts, ledgers, vendors, and other balance-sheet items to verify financial integrity.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly closing processes, including the preparation of trial balances to support timely financial reporting.
- Compile budget-versus-actual reports, expenditure summaries, and other management reporting data to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Support the preparation of annual financial statements and audit schedules, working closely with auditors and internal teams.
- Participate in SAP-related activities such as data cleansing, opening balance preparation, system testing, and resolving transaction or reporting issues.
- Maintain organized accounting records and proactively follow up with relevant departments to obtain any missing information or documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Part qualification in professional accounting programs such as CA, ACCA, CMA, or an equivalent certification is essential.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant accounting experience, with a focus on reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a professional accounting qualification or a master’s degree in accounting or finance is highly desirable.
- Experience working with SAP is preferred, given the system’s central role in this position.
