The Associate Production Manager will oversee the daily execution of the production plan within a plant-based manufacturing environment. This role involves hands-on supervision of floor operations, managing staff, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring materials are available to meet production targets. While most of the time is spent on the plant floor, the position also requires focused desk work for planning, coordination, and reporting. The Associate Production Manager reports directly to the Production Manager and plays a key role in driving operational efficiency and workforce productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Workforce Management: Oversee floor staff and allocate workers according to the daily and weekly production schedules to ensure smooth operations.
Quality Supervision: Conduct routine quality checks on the production line to maintain adherence to defined standards.
Production Efficiency: Monitor production output against targets, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve throughput.
Material Planning: Coordinate raw material requirements with the Inventory team to prevent shortages or excess stock, aligning with the production schedule.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) protocols and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the plant floor.
Shift Planning: Organize shift schedules, manage handovers, and maintain discipline and attendance records for floor staff.
Reporting & Records: Maintain accurate daily production records, including output, downtime, and waste data, and communicate any variances to management.
Maintenance Liaison: Work closely with the Maintenance team to minimize downtime by promptly addressing equipment breakdowns.
Loss Reduction: Lead initiatives to reduce waste, defects, and rejections through root-cause analysis and corrective measures.
People Development: Train and mentor floor staff, supporting continuous improvement programs to enhance team performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Industrial Production, or a related discipline is required.
- 2–3 years of practical experience in production or plant management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, quality control, and inventory coordination.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate floor staff in a fast-paced setting.
- Willingness to work full-time on-site, including shift work as necessary.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP or production management systems for planning and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
- Experience in FMCG manufacturing is advantageous.
- The position is based in Lahore and requires in-person attendance.
- Salary starts from PKR 75,000 per month, negotiable based on experience.
