Associate Software Engineer (AI-First Engineering)

Melcorsoft is seeking motivated and technically curious fresh graduates or early-career software engineers to join their team in Lahore, Pakistan. This full-time, on-site role offers an exciting opportunity to work on modern, scalable software products that integrate strong engineering fundamentals with cutting-edge AI technologies. Candidates will engage in building real-world applications while leveraging AI tools to enhance software design, development, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications across both frontend and backend systems. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best software engineering practices. Build RESTful APIs, integrate databases, and develop reusable components. Work with technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and Python. Utilize AI-assisted development tools including ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms to support coding, debugging, testing, and problem-solving. Explore and integrate AI capabilities using large language model (LLM) APIs, structured outputs, tool calling, and automation workflows. Evaluate and refine AI-generated code to ensure it meets standards for correctness, performance, security, and maintainability. Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, and collaborative problem-solving sessions. Research emerging AI technologies and identify practical ways to enhance products and engineering workflows. Take ownership of assigned features from implementation through testing and delivery.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 0–6 months of professional experience; fresh graduates with strong academic records, internships, or personal projects are encouraged to apply. Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software engineering principles. Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python. Familiarity with frontend or backend frameworks such as React, Next.js, or Node.js. Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP protocols, relational databases, and version control using Git. Basic skills in debugging, testing, and writing maintainable code. Hands-on experience with AI development tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or Claude Code demonstrated through academic, personal, or internship projects. Knowledge of large language models, prompt engineering fundamentals, and the practical capabilities and limitations of generative AI. Ability to independently review, understand, and troubleshoot AI-assisted code. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience building and deploying full-stack applications through personal, academic, or internship projects. Practical exposure to LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Gemini. Familiarity with AI application concepts including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, function calling, or AI agents. Experience with Python-based AI development or automation workflows. Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar databases. Basic understanding of cloud platforms, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), automated testing, or containerization. An active GitHub portfolio, open-source contributions, hackathon participation, or independent technical projects is highly valued.
