The Audit Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of operations across all departments by conducting thorough operational, compliance, financial, and inventory audits. This position helps identify risks, prevent fraud and losses, and recommends corrective actions to enhance overall operational performance in line with company policies, internal controls, and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and surprise audits across production, bakery, dairy, warehouse, dispatch, stores, procurement, and retail operations to verify compliance with company SOPs and policies.
- Evaluate operational efficiency and identify opportunities for process improvements while monitoring the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Perform physical stock verification of raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, and consumables, ensuring FIFO/FEFO procedures are followed.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies such as shortages, damages, wastage, and variances, and reconcile physical stock with ERP or system records.
- Verify production records, batch documentation, and monitor raw material consumption against production output, checking yield reports to identify abnormal losses.
- Audit dispatch documentation, loading procedures, vehicle sealing, and controls over return goods, damaged stock, and expiry management, ensuring proper documentation during goods movement.
- Ensure departmental compliance with company policies, verify employee attendance and overtime records when necessary, and review adherence to labor regulations and internal procedures.
- Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, classify observations by risk level, present results to management, and track corrective actions until closure.
- Identify operational, financial, and compliance risks, recommend preventive controls, and assist management in strengthening internal controls.
- Exercise authority to access audit records and operational documents, conduct scheduled and surprise audits, verify inventory and operational records, recommend corrective actions, and escalate significant non-compliance issues to management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, ACCA, CA Inter, CISA, ISO Lead Auditor, or HACCP are advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- 2 to 5 years of audit experience, preferably within bakery, dairy, FMCG, or food manufacturing sectors.
- Proven experience in operational and inventory auditing is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of internal audit principles, inventory control systems, and food safety standards including GMP, GHP, and HACCP.
- Familiarity with internal controls, risk management, ERP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent report writing, data analysis, and communication abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Capable of conducting investigations and root cause analysis while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
- Effective time management and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions
This is a factory-based role requiring frequent movement across production, warehouse, dispatch, and retail areas. The position may also require audits during weekends, holidays, or after hours as necessary.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is Rs40,000 to Rs45,000 per month.
Work Location
This role requires in-person attendance at the company’s operational sites.
