Backend Software Engineer (Node.js/Python)

We are seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer proficient in Node.js and Python to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining secure and scalable backend applications and services. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain secure and scalable backend applications and services.
- Develop RESTful APIs and integrate systems using Node.js and/or Python.
- Integrate applications with SAP, BigQuery, relational databases, cloud platforms, and third-party systems.
- Design database schemas, write efficient queries, stored procedures, and data-access layers.
- Implement authentication, authorization, role-based access control, logging, and audit trails to ensure security and compliance.
- Optimize the performance of APIs, applications, and databases for efficiency and scalability.
- Apply secure coding practices to protect sensitive business data.
- Participate in requirement analysis, solution design, effort estimation, and sprint planning sessions.
- Write unit and integration tests and support quality assurance, user acceptance testing, deployment, and post-launch activities.
- Troubleshoot production issues and conduct root cause analysis to resolve problems promptly.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including API specifications, deployment notes, and source code repositories.
- Collaborate effectively with frontend developers, data engineers, business analysts, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
- Adhere to coding standards, version control practices, peer reviews, and the approved software development lifecycle (SDLC) process.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong academic background or practical experience in software development, databases, APIs, and application architecture.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient communication skills in both English and Urdu, written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with technical and business teams.
- Demonstrated ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to meeting delivery deadlines.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and contribute across multiple digital initiatives.
- Capability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects.

Work Location: This position requires working onsite in Karachi.
