UST is seeking an experienced Backend/API Developer with strong expertise in AWS to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based solutions and APIs. The role involves working with microservices architectures, optimizing cloud infrastructure, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance applications. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in RESTful and GraphQL API development, cloud deployment on AWS, and a passion for writing clean, maintainable code.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs focusing on scalability, security, and performance.
- Architect and deploy cloud solutions using AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or SAM.
- Optimize database performance and design schemas for both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB).
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms following security best practices including OAuth, JWT, and IAM roles.
- Monitor, debug, and optimize API performance using AWS monitoring tools like CloudWatch and X-Ray.
- Collaborate effectively with frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend/API development.
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, Node.js, or Go.
- Over 4 years of hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud architecture.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB).
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS.
- Familiarity with Git version control and agile development methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with serverless architectures including AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and Step Functions.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
- Experience working with message queues like SQS, SNS, or Kafka.
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Developer Associate are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with API testing, security practices, and rate limiting techniques.
- Experience using monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, or New Relic.
