We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Branch Accountant to manage the financial operations of our branch. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with company policies. This role requires close coordination with various departments including Finance, Sales, Retail Operations, and Head Office to support smooth branch operations and financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day branch accounting and financial transactions efficiently.
- Record and reconcile daily sales, cash collections, bank deposits, and POS transactions.
- Maintain petty cash and monitor branch expenses to ensure budget adherence.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for management review.
- Perform cash, bank, and sales reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Verify invoices, receipts, payment documents, and supporting records for accuracy.
- Monitor branch receivables and payables, following up on outstanding balances promptly.
- Coordinate with Finance, Sales, Retail Operations, and Head Office to facilitate smooth processes.
- Assist with inventory reconciliation and investigate any stock or value variances.
- Ensure proper recording of discounts, returns, refunds, and adjustments in the accounting system.
- Support monthly closing activities and financial reporting deadlines.
- Maintain accurate financial documentation to comply with audit and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure strict adherence to company financial policies and internal control procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com), Business Administration (BBA), or Accounting & Finance (BS).
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Experience in retail, distribution, or multi-branch operations is highly advantageous.
- Proficient in MS Excel and familiar with accounting or ERP software systems.
- Solid understanding of cash, bank, sales, and inventory reconciliation processes.
- Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrated integrity, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effective communication and coordination skills to work collaboratively across departments.
