The Business Analyst role within the Business Operations & Intelligence (BOI) team focuses on transforming complex operational and financial data into clear, actionable intelligence. This is a hands-on analytical position that goes beyond routine reporting maintenance. The analyst is expected to deeply interrogate data, uncover hidden insights, and deliver outputs that provide leadership with a competitive advantage in understanding performance across a diverse client portfolio. Initially, the role includes broader technical responsibilities such as data consolidation and modeling, which will transition over time to focus primarily on intelligence, interpretation, and insight delivery. The position requires versatility across data engineering, quantitative modeling, written analysis, and structured problem-solving, maintaining rigor at every stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor financial and operational performance across approximately 500 client accounts, identifying early warning signs such as deterioration signals, concentration risks, and trend breaks before they reach leadership discussions.
- Build and maintain a consolidated reporting layer that integrates client data from multiple platforms into a single, structured view with daily, weekly, and monthly refresh cycles.
- Develop and manage scorecards, performance dashboards, and periodic analytical reports using Power BI and Excel.
- Write and maintain SQL queries to support ongoing analytical workflows by extracting, shaping, and validating data from source systems.
- Conduct structured assessments of business functions, workflows, or resource models as requested by BOI leadership, delivering findings through well-supported written reports.
- Define and document data requirements, field mappings, and refresh logic to ensure a smooth handoff to the Data Operations Analyst and preserve institutional knowledge.
- Contribute to the design and interpretation of the client health scoring framework, including input on logic, indicator weighting, and composite score communication.
- Support cross-functional evaluations by applying analytical rigor to discussions that might otherwise rely on qualitative or opinion-based inputs.
- Measure the impact of BOI-generated recommendations on observable outcomes and integrate learnings back into the function’s frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in business analysis, performance management, MIS reporting, or management consulting.
- Proven track record of producing analytical work that influenced and changed organizational decisions.
- Experience working with messy, incomplete, or multi-source data and delivering outputs that withstand scrutiny.
- Familiarity with shared services, multi-client, or multi-business-line environments.
- Proficiency in Excel at an advanced modeling level, including pivot tables, dynamic lookups, scenario building, and constructing financial models from scratch.
- Ability to build and maintain Power BI dashboards designed for decision-making rather than aesthetics.
- Strong skills in structured problem-solving methods such as issue trees, root cause analysis, and hypothesis-driven approaches.
- Proficient in SQL, capable of writing complex queries, joins, and aggregations independently.
- Understanding of data modeling concepts and experience building or maintaining data models in Power BI or similar tools.
- Experience managing data refresh pipelines, ensuring timely updates of leadership-facing reports.
- Comfortable working with large, multi-source datasets that often have schema inconsistencies or missing fields.
- Excellent written communication skills, producing concise, evidence-based analysis and executive-ready briefing documents.
- Confidence presenting findings to senior leadership and operational stakeholders without relying on technical jargon.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Attributes
- Exposure to US healthcare, revenue cycle management, or professional services is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with automation tools such as Power Automate or scheduled tasks for streamlining repetitive data operations is a plus.
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity by asking follow-up questions and pushing beyond surface-level data insights.
- Adaptable to shifting problem scopes while maintaining analytical rigor.
- Takes full ownership of outputs, delivering findings with clear implications and recommendations.
- Uses AI tools to enhance analytical workflows for pattern recognition and data summarization, without substituting critical thinking.
- Willingness to manage the broader technical scope temporarily until a dedicated Data Operations function is established, with a smooth transition planned thereafter.
This role offers a unique opportunity to influence strategic decision-making through deep data analysis and insight generation within a dynamic, multi-client environment.
