- Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, authorizations, and required billing documentation.
- Monitor claim adjudication through clearinghouses, payer portals, and direct communication to promptly resolve rejections and errors.
- Apply payer-specific guidelines, fee schedules, and timely filing requirements to minimize avoidable claim denials.
- Analyze denial codes, correct documentation or billing errors, prepare revised claims or appeals, and track resolution outcomes.
- Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) to accurately post insurance and patient payments, reconcile balances, and manage underpayments.
- Process patient credit card payments, issue billing statements, and handle refund or adjustment requests in accordance with organizational policies.
- Monitor aging reports, perform accounts receivable follow-up, and escalate unresolved claims to prevent revenue loss.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries, balances, and statements using clear, empathetic, and professional communication.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times.
