Most Chief Accountants gradually move away from hands-on accounting, spending their time in meetings, managing tasks, and overseeing people, which can cause their technical skills to become outdated. This role takes a different approach. You will lead global finance operations through a team of Senior Accountants while staying closely involved with the work to ensure accuracy. You will review invoices, payments, reconciliations, allocations, and other finance outputs; identify the root causes of errors; and create detailed coaching materials to prevent recurring mistakes. When necessary, you will also be ready to get hands-on with complex finance challenges or critical deadlines.

Trilogy’s Central Finance team operates uniquely compared to traditional accounting departments. We focus on automating routine tasks and leveraging AI and automation to reduce manual work, allowing finance professionals to concentrate on judgment, quality, and continuous improvement. This role provides exposure to complex global finance operations while maintaining the technical expertise that many managers lose as they advance. If you want to take on management responsibilities without becoming a professional meeting attendee, this position allows you to leverage your accounting expertise effectively.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day finance operations through Senior Accountants, prioritizing tasks based on deadlines, business impact, dependencies, and financial risk.
- Review finance dashboards and completed work to ensure accuracy and timeliness of bills, invoices, payments, bank transactions, reconciliations, control accounts, revenue, and spend allocations.
- Diagnose quality issues by applying your accounting expertise to determine whether errors stem from incorrect data, system configuration, accounting treatment, or process execution.
- Develop evidence-based coaching materials that clearly explain errors, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Identify opportunities to integrate AI, large language models (LLMs), and automation to eliminate manual processes and improve the speed and accuracy of finance operations.

Required Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Experience on at least five audits involving a Big 4 accounting firm, either as an auditor or client.
- Accounting or finance experience within an organization generating at least $100 million USD in revenue.
- Proven people-management experience with direct responsibility for finance or accounting professionals.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR)/customer invoicing, bank and control-account reconciliations, and revenue and spend allocations.
- Experience prioritizing and allocating operational finance work across a team while managing deadlines and resolving blockers.
- Experience embedding AI or LLM tools into recurring, high-volume finance transaction workflows, demonstrating clear improvements in efficiency or accuracy.
- Ability to work US business hours.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Experience designing or building finance workflow automations using platforms such as n8n, Lovable, Claude Code, or similar tools.
- Experience managing finance operations across multiple business lines or international entities.
